AFPPresident Donald Trump said he was “committed to buying and owning” the Gaza Avil and moved the two million Palestinians living there, despite the global condemnation of the plan he presented last week.
He told reporters that he could allow the Middle East countries to participate in the restoration of parts of the territory and that he would make sure that Palestinian refugees would “live beautifully”.
Both the Palestinian power and the armed group Hamas, whose 16-month war with Israel caused widespread devastation in gas, reiterated that the Palestinian land was “not sold”.
But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s proposal as “revolutionary and creative.”
Three weeks comes in a fragile ceasefire in Gaza, during which Hamas released some of the Israeli hostages, which he holds in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
The Israeli military launched a campaign to destroy Hamas in response to an unprecedented cross -border attack on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and 251 were taken hostage.
More than 48 180 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the health ministry in the territory.
The greater part of the gas population has also been replaced repeatedly, almost 70% of the buildings are evaluated by damaged or destroyed, health, water, sanitary conditions and hygiene systems have collapsed and there is a shortage of food, fuel, medicine and shelter.
Trump reiterated his promise to take on the post -war gas as he flew to Air Force One New Orleans to watch Super Bowl on Sunday.
“I am committed to buying and owning a gas. As for the fact that we restore it, we can give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it. Other people can We are committed to owning it by accepting it and making sure that Hamas is not moving back, “he said, without explaining who he will buy gas and how the US will own it.
“There’s nothing to go back. The place is a place to demolish … the rest will be demolished,” he added. “But we will do it on a very good site for future development from someone.”
Trump said people from all over the world will be able to move to Gaza and promise to “care for the Palestinians.”
“We will make sure they live beautifully and in harmony and peace and that they are not killed.”
“They don’t want to go back to gas. They’re back just because they don’t have an alternative,” he added.
The president also again expressed confidence that he could convince neighboring Egypt and Jordan to help, despite their previous public rejections to his requests to take refugees from Gaza.
The King of Jordan Abdullah is to meet with Trump in Washington on Tuesday, while President of Israel said Trump will also negotiate with Egyptian President Abdul Fatal Al Sisi and the Crown Prince of the Saudi Unit and the Crown Prince of Saudi Part Mohammed S
ReutersIsrael’s Prime Minister praised Trump’s proposal at a cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday.
“We were told throughout the year that in” the day after “Plo (Palestin’s Liberation Organization), Palestinian power, it should be in the tape,” Netanyahu said.
“President Trump came with a completely different vision, much better for the State of Israel, a revolutionary and creative vision we discuss. He is very determined to fulfill it. This also opens up a lot of opportunities for us.”
The Foreign Ministry of the Palestinian Administration says: “The rights of our people and our land are not sold, exchanged or negotiated.”
“The Israeli government and Prime Minister Netanyahu are trying to cover up the crimes of the genocide, forced displacement and annexation they have committed against our people,” is added.
“To this end, they continue to promote slogans and positions that are separate from political reality and far from the requirements of the political decisions of the conflict.”
Hamas political employee – who is prescribed as a terrorist organization from Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries – said Trump’s remarks are “absurd” and reflect “the deep ignorance of Palestine and the region.”
“Gaza is not a property that needs to be sold and buy. This is an integral part of our occupied Palestinian land,” said Isaat Al-Rish.
The UN Human Rights Service has warned that any violent transfer to or deporting people from occupied territory is strictly prohibited under international law.
The Palestinians are also afraid of the recurrence of Nakba or a “crash” when hundreds of thousands fled or were expelled from their homes before and during the war, followed by the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.
Many of these refugees found themselves in Gaza, where they and their descendants make up three -quarters of the population. Another 900,000 registered refugees live on the occupied West Coast, while 3.4 million others live in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, according to the UN.
Israel unilaterally withdrew his troops and settlers from Gaza in 2005, although he maintained control over his shared border, airspace and coastline, giving him effective control over the movement of people and goods. The UN is still examining a gas for Israel -occupied territory because of the level of control that Israel has.
AFPGerman Chancellor Olaf Scholz also categorically criticized Trump’s plan on Sunday, calling it a “scandal”.
“I say this with the Egyptian government, with the Jordan government and with the people who can rely on human dignity: moving a population is unacceptable against international law,” he said during the television debate before the election.
Palestinian officials and Arab countries also condemned the comments made by Netanyahu in a television interview last week.
An Israeli journalist was discussing efforts to normalize diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia when he mistakenly stated that there would be no progress without creating a Saudi State.
“Palestinian state.” Netanyahu corrected it before adding: “Unless you want the Palestinian state to be in Saudi Arabia? They have many territory.”
Egypt called the proposal “reckless” and something that “directly violates Saudi sovereignty” while Jordan said it was a “gross violation of international law”.
Saudi Arabia said on Sunday that it evaluates “the condemnation, disapproval and complete rejection declared by the fraternal countries of what Benjamin Netanyahu said about the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land.”
