Emily Damari familyThe British-Israeli hostage, released by Hamas after 15 months in captivity, said her marks were “freedom, hope and strength” while she suffered a series of operations for her injuries.
28 -year -old Emily Damari was shot in the hand while dragged from her home in southern Israel during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which made her lose two fingers.
She said that surgery in Gaza had left her in “intense pain” for a year and a half and that a scar of “open, purulent wound” did not cure months because of the conditions she was held.
Prior to her treatment, Da Damari said she had “embraced” the pain and injuries because of what they symbolized her.

“I have so many people that I want to thank personally for helping me get my life back.”
The couple was invited to Downing Street by the United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Kyar Starmer, who had previously talked to Da Damari on the phone.
During this conversation, she said it was held at the facilities of the United Nations organization during her captivity. The UN Gaza Agency has called for an independent investigation into the claim.
A total of 251 hostages were taken by Hamas when he attacked Israel on October 7, 2023 and another 1,200 people were killed.
