Several Arab countries and the UN have condemned Israel to block the entry of all humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
Egypt and Qatar said the Israeli move on Sunday violated a deal to end the fire, while the head of the humanitarian humanitarian Tom Fletcher described him as “anxious.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country was operating because Hamas steals supplies and uses them “to finance his terrorist machine.”
He also accused the Palestinian group of rejecting the US proposal to extend the ceasefire in Gaza after expired on Saturday. Israel said this had approved the proposal.
Hamas spokesman said Israel’s blockade was “cheap extortion” and “coup” against the fire termination agreement.
The fire termination deal has stopped for 15 months between Hamas and Israeli military, which allows the release of 33 Israeli hostages for about 1900 Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
In a statement on Sunday, the Foreign Ministry of Qatar said “strongly condemned” the Israeli decision, describing it as “a clear violation of the fire termination agreement” and “International Humanitarian Law”.
In Egypt, the Foreign Ministry has accused Israel of using hunger as a “weapon against the Palestinian people,” the AFP news agency said.
Both Qatar and Egypt have helped to mediate the fire termination agreement in Gaza.
Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, has expressed its “condemnation and denunciation” of Israeli assistance blockade, the foreign ministry said.
Tom Fletcher, General Secretary General of Humanitarian Affairs, wrote in an X publication: “International humanitarian law is clear: we need to be allowed to access vital rescue assistance.”
Netanyahu said Israel decided to act “because Hamas steals deliveries and does not allow Gaza people to receive them.
“He uses these supplies to finance his terrorist machine, which is directly aimed at Israel and our civilians, and we cannot accept that.”
Previously, Hamas denied stealing humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Netanyahu also said that Hamas refuses to accept a temporary extension of the termination of fire proposed by US President Donald Trump Steve Vikof.
The first phase of the cessation of fire came into force on January 19 and expired at midnight on Saturday.
Negotiations on the second phase, which would lead to a constant cessation of the fire, the release of all other living hostages, and the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from Gaza had to start weeks ago – but they were barely started.
It is believed that there are 24 living hostages, with another 39 supposed to be dead.
The third phase aims to lead to the return of all other bodies of the dead hostages and the reconstruction of the gas, which is expected to take years.
Earlier, Hamas stated that he would not agree with the extension of phase one without guarantees from the mediators, that Phase two would ultimately take place.
As the first phase of the deal expired on Saturday, Netanyahu’s office said Israel agreed to Vitcof’s proposal to end the fire to continue for about six weeks during the Muslim sacred month of Ramadan and the Jewish periods of Easter.
If at the end of this period the negotiations reached a dead end, Israel reserves the right to return to war.
Vitcof has not made his proposal publicly. According to Israel, it will begin with the release of half of all other alive and dead hostages.
Israel is said that Israel has proposed a temporary extension after convincing itself that it takes more time to try to overcome the differences between Israel and Hamas about the conditions for ending war.
Help agencies have confirmed that no trucks have been launched on Gaza on Sunday morning.
“Humanitarian aid must continue to flow into Gaza. This is very important. And we call all countries to make sure they reach a solution,” Antoine Renard told the World Food Program (WFP) to the BBC.
Thousands of trucks enter the Gaza Strip every week since the fire was agreed in mid -January.
Assistance agencies have been able to keep deliveries, which means that there is no immediate danger to the civilian population.
Also on Sunday, medics said four people were killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza. The Israeli military said people were attacked by planted an explosive device in the northern part of the territory.
Hamas carried out an unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking another 251 hostage.
Israel responded with a campaign for the air and ground in the Gaza Strip, during which at least 48 365 people were killed, according to the health ministry in the territory.
