An elderly man was killed and four other people were injured in what police claim to be a terrorist piercing attack in the northern Israeli city of Haifa.
This happened on the central train and a bus station in Hamifraz, and the attacker was shot at the scene of security guards, police said.
The victim, who died, was about 70 years old, said Magen David Adom’s ambulance service. A 15-year-old boy and man and woman of the 1930s were in a serious condition while a 70-year-old woman had a moderate injury, he added.
Police said the attacker was an Israeli Druz from the city of Schfaram, who recently returned from abroad. A similar attack by a Druze community member in Israel is rare.
Druza are an ethnic and religious group whose faith is the offspring of Shiite Islam. About 150,000 live in Israel and the occupied Golan heights, including about 1.5% of the population.
A witness said on Israel Walla News website that the striker was traveling to Haifa on a bus from a spfaram, which is about 10 km (6 miles) east of Haifa.
He began to stab passengers when the bus arrived at the station, then went down and attacked others at the fair, the witness said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “My wife Sarah and I send our deepest condolences to the family of the man who was killed in the shocking terrorist attack in Haifa.
“We will continue to fight everywhere against those who strive to kill us and beat them.”
There were no immediately claims from any armed groups, but Hamas described the attack as “heroic” and “natural answer” to what he called Israeli crimes against the Palestinians.
It comes against the background of a stalemate between Hamas and Israel, moving forward with the six -week deal to end the gas fire.
Israel stopped helping to enter Gaza after Hamas rejected what Netanyahu’s office said it was a proposal for the United States to extend the first phase, which ended on Saturday night.
Hamas accused Israel of renewing the deal and stated that the second phase should continue as agreed.
