The Canadian provinces that pull us alcohol from the store shelves in response to Trump’s trade policy are “worse than tariffs,” said Jack manufacturer Daniel Brown-forman.
Several Canadian provinces, including Ontario, who is the most populated, took action this week in revenge on US tariffs for Canadian goods.
The Ontario Alcohol Control Council (LCBO), one of the largest alcohol buyers in the world, has removed alcoholic beverages produced by the United States from its shelves on Tuesday.
Brown Chief Foreign Lawson Wying said the Canadian response was “disproportionate” to 25% of the Canadian goods imposed by the Trump administration.
“I want to say it’s worse than a tariff because it literally takes away your sales by completely removing our shelves,” said G -n -Whitting.
In response to the tariffs, Canada revenge with 25% levies on goods imported from the United States, including beer, spirits and wine.
Some provinces have also taken action, including Ontario and Nova Scotia.
Ontario Doug Ford Prime Minister said LCBO sells nearly 1 billion American alcohol a year. “From today, each of these products is out of shelves,” said G -n Ford on Tuesday.
LCBO is the exclusive wholesale dealer in Ontario, which means that other retailers, bars and restaurants in the province will no longer be able to restore US products, said G -n Ford.
Nevertheless, Mr. Wyling said that Canada represents only 1% of the total brother-forman sales, so the company can endure.
Canadians are advised by LCBO to buy products manufactured in Canada. Some Canadians turn to local goods in response to Trump’s rates.
Ghetto imagesCanada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau criticizes the US tariffs on Tuesday, saying their imposition is “a very dumb thing to do.”
He also accused the US president of placing a “complete collapse of the Canadian economy because it would facilitate annexing us.”
Trump has made a number of remarks about the turn of Canada into the 51st state of his country, for which Canada Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie said he accepts “very seriously”.
Washington has also put 25% rates for Mexico, although Trump said he would Temporary reserve car manufacturers in both Canada and Mexico from taxesS
Mr. Wyling said Brown-forman would also see what would happen in Mexico, representing 7% of his sales in 2024.
