The complaints against the Duterte at the ICC claim that he has retained a “death squad” of head hunters to go after suspected drugs in Djao, and later reproduces this model on a national scale when he was elected president.
Human Rights Watch called the Dutner’s arrest “critical step on accountability in the Philippines”.
Duterte has built a reputation of Dao as one of the safest cities of the Philippines and cultivated the image of a difficult man, an anti-setting man on the masses, to get a dark victory on the horse in the 2016 presidential election.
The polls show that he is the most popular President of the Philippines since the restoration of democracy in 1986.
His supporters threatened to hold great rallies to protest his arrest. They had asked the Supreme Court to issue a restrictive order against the MHC order – but the court did not act before the former president was expelled on Tuesday.
