Israeli Prime Minister said “We have returned to battles”

Israel has “resumed the battle with full force” against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday night.

In a challenging video statement, he warned that “the negotiations will continue only under fire” and that “this is only the beginning.”

His comments came after Israeli planes began massive air strikes against what the military said were Hamas’s goals in Gaza.

More than 400 people were killed in the attacks, said Hamas Health Ministry and Hundreds of other injured.

The wave of shock was the most severe, as the fire was stopped on January 19.

The fragile truce has been held mainly so far, but this new wave of attacks implies plans for a constant end of the war may be out of the table.

Airlines that hit Bate Lahia, Rafa, Nusherat and Al Mavasi On Tuesday, they broke the relative peace that the Gazanas have been experiencing since January, and hospitals have been overcome again by casualties.

Attacks against Gaza were sentenced by Egypt, an intermediary in the conversations.

Air strikes are a “gross violation” of the fire termination agreement and are a “dangerous escalation,” said Tallim Halaf, a spokesman for the country’s foreign ministry.

“The attacks were so sudden that the number of medical staff available was insufficient for the scale of these big strokes and additional teams were summoned immediately to help,” said Mohammed, CEO of the Gaza Strip Hospitals, before the BBC Arabic.

In his address, Netanyahu stated that Israel had tried to negotiate with Hamas to release the Israeli hostages, who are still being held in Gaza. He accused Hamas of rejecting the proposals every time.

Israel and Hamas disagree how to conclude the fire transaction after the first phase has expired in early March, after numerous exchanges of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.

The deal includes three stages, and the second stage negotiations were due to start six weeks ago – but that didn’t happen.

Instead, the agreement was uncertain when the US and Israel wanted to change the terms of the deal to extend the stage one that would see more hostages.

This would delay the beginning of Phase Two, which aimed to establish a constant cessation of the fire and required the Israeli troops to withdraw from the gas.

But Hamas rejected this proposed change in the agreement that mediated by us, Qatari and Egyptian mediators, calling it unacceptable.

BBC Check: Mapping wave from Israel’s strikes

On Tuesday night, Netanyahu said Israel would continue to fight to achieve all his military goals – “to return the hostages, to get rid of Hamas and to make sure that Hamas is not a threat to Israel.”

US President Donald Trump’s administration was consulted by Israel before making the strikes, employees said.

The US National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said: “Hamas could release hostages to extend the truce, but instead chose a refusal and war.”

Hamas warned that the resumption of violence from Israel would “impose a death sentence” on other living hostages held in Gaza, and accused Israel of trying to force him to broadcast.

Speaking to the BBC about the attacks, Dr. Sabrina Das, obstetric training Palestinian doctors in South Gaza, said: “Everything was very sudden … The mood of everyone was just broken because we knew it was the beginning of the war again.”

Dr. Das said that her colleagues at Nasar Hospital were “fully operating” because “the mass victims have started to enter again.”

A group representing the hostages of the hostages accused the Israeli government of choosing “to give up the hostages” by starting new strikes – and protesting outside the Israeli parliament.

The news of the strikes horrified some of the families of the Israeli hostages who are still held by Hamas.

“The Israeli government is not perfect, and Israel is not doing enough because my brothers are not home,” said Lyran Berman, whose twin brothers are still holding in Gaza, before the BBC.

“But if Hamas wanted, the hostages would come back. They are in their hands.”

Israel says Hamas still holds 59 hostages, 24 of which are thought to be alive.

The war was triggered when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking 251 back to gas as captives.

Israel has reacted with a large -scale military offensive, which killed over 48,500 Palestinians, says Hamas Health Ministry in Gaza and caused huge destruction of homes and infrastructure.
