Any successful identification “gives renewed hope” that other women “can also return their identity,” Interpol Secretary -General Valdessi Urkis said.
“Our work is not only about resolving cases, but also to restore the dignity of the victims and give voice to those affected by the tragedy,” he said.
Lima was found dead in a poultry shelter attached to a country house in the Spanish province of Girona in August 2018.
It does not carry any identification documents, but the people living in the village house and other locals said they did not know who she was. Police said there was a tattoo of the word “success” in Hebrew.
Last year it was added to the Identled Me Campaign operation, Who has seen Interpol “Black Toti” – looking for information about unidentified bodies – published to the public for the first time.
Earlier this month, a breakthrough came when the Paraguayan authorities coincide with fingerprints uploaded from Spain for the black notice against those in their own national database.
Lima’s brother told police that she had traveled to Spain in 2013. He announced that she had disappeared in the Paraguay authorities in 2019 after a few months without contact.
While Lima has already been identified, Interpol said the circumstances surrounding her death remain “unexplained”.
The woman who was previously identified by the campaign was 31-year-old Rita Roberts from Wales.
The last contact her family had with her was a postcard from Belgium in May 1992. Her body was found next month.
Her family noticed her distinctive Black Rose tattoo in a BBC report on the launch of the IDENTE Identle Me operation in 2023.
The campaign seeks to find the identity of another 45 women found dead in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy and Spain. The greater part of them are victims of murder, which are believed to be between the ages of 15 and 30.
Interpol said that increased global migration and human trafficking have led to more people have been reported to have disappeared outside their countries, which can make identification authorities more challenging.
Details of each case have been posted on Interpol websiteAlong with photos of possible identification objects and reconstructions of the face.
