Vitamins and supplements such as zinc and liver fever oil are often advertised for their ability to boost your immune system but Jeffrey Bland“The father of functional medicine,” says this is not really possible.
“I heard,” I can boost my immune system if I take a lot of vitamins. “It may be vitamin D, vitamin A (or) zinc,” says Bland. “(But) These nutrients do not strengthen the immune system. These nutrients can fill the gaps in a person who needs them to meet their daily requirements for proper immune function, but you will not strengthen the immune system as you do with vaccination.”
Obtaining vaccination causes a physiological effect that increases the function of the immune system. Complementing with nutrients does not have the same effect, he says.
Instead of a single focus on boosting immunity, Bland says you should think of rejuvenation. Approximately every four months, the cells that make up our immune system are replaced with new cellsS
“The question I ask people is:” Do you want the cells that replace these today are as good as better than or as much as you have (now)? “He says CNBC does it.
Although you should always consult your doctor about your specific health needs, Bland, who is also president and CEO of Personalized Lifestyle Medicine InstituteThere are several practices that it offers to rejuvenate your immune system.
“These are a few simple tips. Try to think about them every day and apply them,” says Bland. “(This) can make significant differences in your immune capacity.”
