According to his own recognition, Gerard Depardie acts in a world that is no longer his own.
On the third day of his sexual assault trial in Paris, the French cinema star admitted that he was given “rude” and “vulgar” language that is no longer considered acceptable.
This came to the point a few years ago, he said, insisting that assistants would not approach him in his dressing room because they were too responsible to be shocked.
“Knowing the vulgarity of the Old World, today I am trying to avoid listening to me from the New World – so that I do not encounter disgusting,” he told the court.
“I’m not very calm with this new society … I think my time is done.”
But he denies being a sexual abuser.
“I don’t see how it could be fun to feel a woman, her ass, her breasts. I’m not a metro-stroke-maniac,” he said.
The 76-year-old Depardieu has been accused of sexual assault on two women in a movie set in 2021. They both say he has touched them in intimate parts of the body.
In court, the actor repeated his defense: that he may have touched women accidentally or maintain balance, but that he had never had a sexual intention.
If convicted, Depardieu can face five years in prison and a fine of up to € 75,000 (63,000 pounds; $ 81,000). The test must continue until Thursday at least.
As of Monday, the packed courtroom has been a scene of explosive exchanges between the two legal teams – with Depardieu Jérémie AssOUS lawyer, conducting aggressive protection aimed at undermining the claus of the two claimants.
But on Wednesday, Depardie was the subject of intense interrogation, and at one point it seems that he suggests that a hand of the ass is not a sexual assault.
“I have never committed an act of sexual assault (against the plaintiff). Anyway, the sexual attack, in my opinion, is worse than what she said,” he said under the interrogation of the applicant’s lawyer Karin Duri-Dibolt.
Smelling blood, the lawyer fell apart: “You say that sexual assault should be more than a hand on the ass?”
Outside his seat, Depardieu’s lawyer shot.
“No, this is not what my client said,” he said, accusing Mrs. Durrieu-Diebolt, “trying to create quotes that can be twisted by the media.”
Obviously there is no lost love between the two sides.
D -N AssOUS is seen by the plaintiffs team, deliberately goes to lure them. He, in turn, believes that feminist “activists” worked on the plaintiffs, encouraging them to file fees that they may not have to bring.
The events discussed took place in Paris in September 2021, when Depardieu made a movie called Les Volets Verts about the aging actor who reconciled his decreasing forces.
This is the first time the actor appeared in court on charges of sexual assault. Several other women made similar allegations in the media and he was also accused of rape, all of which he denied.
The first plaintiff – a settist of Seth – told the court on Tuesday that after a minor dispute with Depardieu, he grabbed her between her legs, held her from her hips and told her to the urshal.
The second applicant – an assistant director – said he had been attacked by the actor three times. First, she accompanied him from his dressing room to the set when he felt his hand on his ass.
Another time, he touched her breasts through her clothes and for the third time her ass again. After she told her to Superior what happened, Depardieu supposedly called her a “scammer” and refused to make her approach him.
For the defense, Assour produces photos taken at the end of the photo showing Depardieu and the plaintiff, apparently smiling happily together. She said she wanted to play the incidents and that she was not even sure at that time if they had drawn up a criminal offense.
Just two years later, when she saw the media coverage of the alleged sexual disorder of Depardieu in other cases that she decided to file a complaint with the police, she said.
She added that the affair had left her in a state of anxious suffering and was still having difficulty sleeping today.
The trial offered a rare chance to the French audience to see the once overturned actor – a star of films like Green Card and Cyrano de Bergerac – in close premises.
He appeared in a court, dressed in a black shirt and jacket, and leaned against the shoulder of his very big bodyguard.
The bodyguard – called as a Massica – was regularly referred to in production.
Depardieu said that Massica’s constant presence made it impossible for him to have performed the sexual attacks that he was accused of.
The actor himself is very overweight and told the court that he had difficulty walking more than a little distance.
“My joints hurt me. In general, my body is a bust,” he said.
In the courtroom, he sits on a special box that Massica brings with him.
It is white and covered with kisses and signatures from people who have supported Depardieu.
