US prosecutors to seek the death penalty for Luigi Magione

US prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Luigi Magioone, the man accused of shooting Dead Unitedhealthcare, CEO Brian Thompson in December.

US Prosecutor Pam Bondy said in a statement on Tuesday that she had directed federal prosecutors to seek the punishment for “deliberate, cold -blooded murder”.

Thompson was shot dead in front of a hotel in New York on December 4th. Police arrested Manguine, 26 years, weeks later in Pennsylvania after a nationwide Mann.

He was acknowledged that he was not guilty of state charges and has not yet entered a legal basis for individual federal charges. He is currently waiting for a lawsuit in a federal prison in New York.

In the press release, Bondi said that the murder of G -N -Thompson “was an act of political violence” and that “may have been a serious risk of death of additional persons” nearby.

Investigators say that Mangoone was motivated to kill the 50 -year -old d -Thompson for anger to US health insurance companies.

Mr Mangione faces 11 state criminal censuses in New York, including first-degree murder and murder as a crime of terrorism.

If convicted of all censuses, he will face a mandatory sentence for life in prison without the possibility of conditional release.

Federal prosecutors also separately blamed the Mangoone for the use of a firearm for murder and interstate lurking, leading to death. These accusations make it admissible for the death penalty.

He has not yet entered on a legal basis on these accusations.

Prosecutors said the federal and state affairs would move in parallel.
