Outrage is a valuable political currency and France’s far right spent this week in experience, furiously and predictably, to take advantage of the perceived injustice of the court’s decision to block its totemic leader Marin Le Pen from the 2027 presidential election.

Air waves are throbbing with outrage.

“Be outraged,” said one of Le Pen’s key MPs from French TV, in case someone doubted what their reaction should be.

But it remains unclear whether Le Pen’s difficult sentence will extend the support for her party, the national rally (RN) or lead to a greater fragmentation of the French region. Either way, he created a feverish mood among the nation politicians.

Le Pen and her allies boldly stated that the institutions of France and democracy themselves were “executed”, were “dead” or “violated”. The country’s justice system has been transformed into a “political” hit squad, shamelessly intervening in the right of the nation to choose its own leaders. And Marin Le Pen is widely depicted, with something close to security, like a waiting president of France, as the most popular politician of the nation, cruelly robbed by her near procession to the Elise Palace.

“The system has released a nuclear bomb, and if it uses such a powerful weapon against us, it is obviously because we are about to win the election,” evaporate Le Pen at a press conference, comparing himself to the poisoned, closed and now dead Russian opposition Alexey Navana.

As France appreciates its most political tremor, an uneven retreat has begun.

There is no clear gable for president

He is nervous about the impact that the decision may have for the government of the coalition coalition in the country, Prime Minister Francois Bayro has admitted that he feels “alarmed” by Le Pen’s sentence and is worried about “shock” to public opinion.

But other centrist politicians took a stronger line, emphasizing the need for a clear gap between justice system and politics.

A public opinion poll conducted the day before the court’s decision to predict that Le Pen will provide up to 37% of the votes of the 2027 presidential election.

It seems that an early study of public opinion shows that the French public accepts a calm line that has exploded – or at least the release – the bubble of RN’s outrage. The poll presented within hours of the court’s decision showed less than one -third of the country – 31% – thought that the decision to block Le Pen immediately, to run for a public office was unfair.

Indicatively that this figure was less than 37% of the French, who recently expressed interest in voting for her as president.

In other words, many people who like her as a politician also believe that it is reasonable for her crimes to disqualify her to run for office.

And remember that the French presidential election is still two years old – eternity in the current political climate.

Emmanuel Macron has no right to defend another term, and no clear alternative to Le Pen from the left or center of French politics has yet emerged. The share of Le Pen in the vote is steadily increasing during its previous three unsuccessful deals for the highest work, but at best it is premature to consider it an entrance for 2027.

Le Pen’s crime and punishment

Anyone who followed the lawsuit against her and her party counterparts in an impartial manner would struggle to conclude that the sentences in the LE Pen case are unreasonable.

The evidence of a massive and coordinated project for fraud of the European Parliament and the related taxpayers included incriminating jaws emails, which suggest that employees know exactly what they were doing and the illegality of their actions.

The fact that corruption was for the party, not for personal gain, certainly doesn’t change anything. Corruption is corruption. In addition, other countries were also found guilty of such crimes.

Regarding the penalties given by the court, it seems honest to claim that Le Pen and her party have made a strategic mistake in their approach to the case.

If they had acknowledged their facts and mistakes and cooperated in facilitating a quick process, not helping to get the process for almost a decade, the judges – as they were now clarified – they could take into account their attitude to the case when they were considering penalties.

“Neither during the investigation, nor during the trial (LE PEN) show awareness of the need for a sample as a selected employee, nor of the resulting responsibilities,” writes the judges in a document explaining, often outraged, why they gave such a difficult sentence.

They sought Le Pen to strive to slow down or avoid justice with a “defense system that ignores the disclosure of truth.”

Elite

It is worth noting here, the broader hypocrisy demonstrated by elites in the political spectrum of France, who have recently murmured their sympathy for Le Pen. It has been nine years since MPs voted to strengthen corruption laws, introducing the sanctions themselves – an immediate ban on criminals from the public office – who were used by the judges in this case.

This residence was welcomed by the public as an antidote against a judicial system, stimulated by a condescending culture of consistent calls that allowed – and sometimes still allows politicians to avoid accountability for decades.

Now Le Pen is making fun of her critics online with many past cases where she has called for further laws of corruption.

“When will we learn the lessons and effectively introduce all -life unacceptability for those who have been convicted of acts committed during position or during their term?” she asked in 2013

Reasonable people may wisely disagree on the judgment of the judgment of the court in the case of Le Pen. But the concept of enthusiastic approved by populist and firm right-wing politicians throughout Europe and the United States-it is a victim of a conspiracy political plot, apparently did not convince most French people.

At least not.

The future of the final right of France

So, where is this sentence-a clear seismic moment in French politics-leaves the national rally and the wider far right movement?

The short answer is that no one knows. There are so many variables-from the fate of the rapidly traced attractiveness of Le Pen, to the pH inheritance strategy, to the uncertain finances of France, to the wider political climate and appetite for viewing a population both within France and globally-that the predictions are even more enjoyable than usual.

The most non -consistent question – given the slow pace of legal appeal that Le Pen has promised to initiate – is whether RN will seek a quick revenge in parliament, trying to overthrow Francois Bairu’s fragile coalition government.

This could lead to new parliamentary elections this summer and the possibility of pH being able to take advantage of the status of its victim to increase its leading role in parliament and may even pushed the country to the impasse in which President Macron can – another “may” – to feel obliged.

One person who will now face additional control is almost, but not quite anointed heir, 29-year-old Jordan Bardela, who can be attracted as a replacement presidential candidate if Le Pen’s own “narrow path” to élysée remains blocked in appeal.

If Bardela’s popularity with social media among French youth is some indication of his prospects, he could move to victory in 2027, he found a way to get involved in the dissatisfaction of people angry with the falling standard of living and concerns about immigration.

But turning youth support into actual votes is not always simple, and others, more dramatic and basic numbers on the right, may be an opportunity.

Interior Minister Bruno Deptile shows that he is emerging as a potential contender. Some are even wondering if the provocative television personality Cyril Hanuna can become a serious political force than the right to French politics.

Meanwhile, Bardela, like RN as a whole, is a highly disciplined mission to detoxify the party’s racist and anti -Semitic brand. In February, for example, he gave up his plans to speak at the CPAC’s far -right event in America after former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon made a Nazi greeting.

But the events this week have revealed that RN is enthusiastically dedicated to the distinct strategy of Trump-Ian and a populist to blame her miseries in the “swamp” of the selected employees. Bardela, meanwhile, complained about the recent closure of two right media channels, along with his party’s own legal struggles.

“There is an extremely serious drift today that does not reflect the idea we have for French democracy,” he said.

This is the type of language that descends well with the main constituency of RN, but its wider attractiveness can be limited in a country that in many respects remains deeply attached to its institutions.

To put it otherwise, will French voters be more motivated than the belief that Le Pen was punished unfairly or by concern that the participating judges were victims of death threats and other insults?

Emanuel Macron was re -elected in 2022 – he has no right to uphold another term and there is no clear alternative to Le Pen

As for Marine Le Pen, she swore that she will not be removed. But her fate is no longer entirely in her own hands. At the age of 56, she became a familiar figure, fiery at times, but personally accessible, warm and politically, deeply influential and disciplined. So what’s next for her?

France had one Le Pen or another (the father of the Marine Corps, Jean-Marie has been running four times) on his presidential newsletter since 1988. It is always unsuccessful.

The story can be looked back to this week when, as soon as Morne Le Pen’s fate, one of three ways was sealed: as the first woman and the first far -right president of France, swept into power in a rush of outrage. Like the four-time loser in the French presidential election, he finally denied the power of the hatred of corruption. Or like someone whose elevating political career was brought to an early and trembling stop by her own mistakes due to a serious misappropriation scandal.
