The alleged gang leader was hiding in the Munum Forest, with authorities reporting that several other criminal hideals were also destroyed on Friday.

His apparent death comes after the bandits abducted 43 peasants and killed four others in a deadly attack on a village called Maigora in North Kacina earlier this week.

However, this is not the first time Dankrami’s death has been reported.

The State Commissioner for Homeland Security and the interior of Kacina, Nasir Muazu, said the murder was an important cornerstone in the fight against bandits in the state.

“It is appropriate that this successful mission significantly violated the criminal networks that long terrorized communities in Fascar, Kankar, Bakori, Malumfashi and Cafur,” Mua’u added.

Security forces said they also recovered and destroyed two machine guns and locally made rifles.

In a separate operation on Thursday, security forces killed six bandits, including their commander, while several other bandits fled with bullets wounds.

Seven motorcycles were also captured and restored during an intelligence -led operation.

Kacina, the native state of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Bukhari, has witnessed sporadic attacks by bandits and abductors who have taken many lives.

Authorities said operations are part of a broader effort to restore stability in the state and the northwestern region of Nigeria, which has witnessed repeated attacks of banditating.
