Donald Trump’s administration accuses New York General James Prosecutor James of Mortgage Fraud and has made a criminal guidance at the Ministry of Justice, seeking federal prosecution.
Officials from the Federal Housing Agency (FHFA) claim that James has falsified a bank and records of real estate to obtain better borrowing agreements, an administration official told the BBC.
James won a civil case against Trump in 2023, which accused him of overestimating his properties to take loans with favorable conditions. He is currently appealing to the decision.
There are no accusations against James. Its service has accused the Trump administration of arming the US government.
“General Prosecutor James is focused every day on the defense of New Yorkers, especially since this administration arms the federal government against the rule of law and the constitution. It will not be frightened by thugs – no matter who they are,” said a speaker’s statement.
During his court trials, after leaving office in 2021, Trump repeatedly stated that he believed that his political opponents of the weapons of justice against him.
No charges were filed, the White House confirmed, adding that more details would follow if the Ministry of Justice was taking action.
In a letter received from the US media to the Prosecutor General of the US prosecutor Pam Bondi, FHFA Director William Pulte accused James of misrepresenting a New York building as a structure of four units instead of five to get a better loan deal.
Pulte also claims that James had requested a property in Norfolk, Virginia, was her main residence in 2023 – when he was the best state prosecutor – to provide a lower loan interest rate. Mortgage loans for primary residences usually come with better conditions.
“D -James was a New York General and is required by law to have her main residence in New York – although her mortgage statements are listed to have Norfolk, VA, owned as a main home,” the letter said.
In a publication on Truth Social on Monday, Trump called James a “crazy crook.”
“James, a fully corrupt politician, must immediately resign from his position as New York State Prosecutor,” he writes.
Trump’s family business was found responsible in 2023 for counterfeiting records and financial statements to get better loans and insurance transactions.
In the case brought by James, a judge ruled that the Trump organization is responsible for overestimating a maisonette in Trump Tower in New York, claiming to be three times larger than its actual size, among other accusations.
Trump was ordered to pay over $ 350 million (264 million British pounds) compensation in the civil fraud case, which goes through the appeal process. During the case, Trump often attacks James, calling her “biased and corrupt.”
Trump was criminally convicted of falsifying business records in a separate case. Last year, he was found guilty of 34 charges of fraudulent reimbursements for the payment of hash-parya, made by the adult film actress, Stormy Daniels.
During his campaign, Trump promised to seek revenge against many of his political enemies – including former President Joe Biden – others who opposed him.
