The planned dates and the location of Fyre Festival 2 have been questioned, according to reports in US media.

Restarting the Fyre 2017 Festival – which made international titles, has sparked a hit documentary on Netflix and has led to the fact that the organizer Billy McFarland will go to prison for fraud – he was supposed to be held in Mexico from May 30 to June 2.

McFarland’s second attempt to set the event was announced shortly after he was released from prison, with ticket prices ranging from $ 1,400 ($ 1.058) to $ 1.1 million (£ 831,534).

But now it is reported that the organizers are looking for a new place for the festival, with the planned dates being uncertain.

A message to the ticket holders on Wednesday said the event had been postponed and a new date would be announced, ABC News reports. The festival website also briefly said the event was postponed, according to NBC News.

The organizers said in an additional update reported by NBC and The New York Times that the Fyre 2 is “still included”.

“We are checking new places and we will soon announce our household destination. Our priorities remain unchanged: providing an unforgettable, safe and transparent experience,” the update said.

McFarland told the NBC that the date depends on the location.

BBC News addressed the organizers of Fyre Festival 2 for comment.

The uncertainty follows two local authorities in Mexico, saying that they have no records to plan the festival, which the organizers have said will be held in their areas.

In February, the organizers announced the location of the festival such as Isla Mugget, an island near Cancun.

However, the local City Council publishes on Facebook that “no person or company has requested permits from this office or from another municipal government department for that event.”

The event was again announced with a new place in Playa del Carmen. Local employees there told X that “no event with that name had reached our city.”

“After a responsible review of the situation, he confirms that there is no registration, planning or conditions showing the realization of the event in the municipality,” the statement translated.

McFarland and Fyre Festival 2 have posted Instagram documents, which they said showed approval for the event. One document shows permission for 250 people on the spot. McFarland had said 1800 tickets were sold.

For many, the latest developments will come as a little surprise.

The original Fyre was popularized by supermodels and celebrities as an exceptional escape for the ultra -rich, and the location is swollen like a private island, once owned by Lord Drugs Pablo Escobar.

But the festivals arrived in the Bahamas to find all the canceled talents, bare mattresses to sleep in tents destroyed by storms and cheese sandwiches in exporting containers to eat.

McFarland was sentenced to six years in 2018 at a wire fraud prison and was also sentenced to return $ 29 million to investors.

He was released in 2022 under the early release program, but remains a probationary period until August.

Last year, McFarland announced the restart, saying “Fyre 2 should work”.

He claims to have spent a year planning it and has already sold 100 tickets with an early bird of $ 499. It is not clear how many tickets have been sold so far.

No composition was announced for the festival.

Last year, Andy King, an investor in the first Fyre festival, issued a warning to anyone who is interested in going to his planned restart: “Continue attention.”

D -n King, who lost $ 1 million in the original debate, Before the BBC This McFarland was “known for the largest failure in pop culture and wants to turn the script. But I’m not sure he’s going the right way.”
