China is The cracking down How automaors advertise driver-help features, “autonomous driving,” “self-driving,” and “smart driving”, quoting a transcript of a meeting between government and industrial representatives.

The updated rule will allow customers to prohibit automackers through software updates on the advanced driver-assistant system in the hands of the vehicles. Automakers now need to check any upgrade or new features in ADS and get official approval before launching it through software updates.

Wireless software updates that improve or fix the features in vehicles – and the first popular by Tesla – trying to stay competitive has become a critical ability for automackers.

The mandate starts from increasing anxiety over the incidents of deadly crashes associated with the security and advanced driver-helping system. The driver caught fire only a few seconds after taking control of the ADS last month after a shrub was destroyed on a pole.

It follows the “Complete Self-Driving Software” branding Tesla Rollout used for its advanced driver-help system. FSD is not a self-driving system and it needs to be employed by a human driver. In China, the Tesla FSD name has changed the “driving with the intelligent assistance”.
