Russian security forces say they have detained a Ukrainian spy accused of killing a senior Russian general in attacking a car bomb in Moscow’s suburbs on Friday.

The FSB secret service said they had adopted a “Ukrainian Special Service Agent Ignatius Kuzi”, which “planted explosives at the Volkswagen Golf” to kill Gen. Yaroslav Moskalik.

Muscalik Gen. was the deputy manager of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Military. He died after passing the car parked in front of his house in the Balashi suburb.

FSB said Cuzin was building a car with a home explosive device and the bomb was then rejected by Ukraine.

Ukraine did not comment on the bombing.

FSB said the suspect was appointed by Ukraine in 2023 and drove to Moscow in September of the same year.

Russian media also reported that FSB has released a video showing the detained man giving apparent recognition, as well as footage from his arrest and bomb components.

The Kremlin on Friday blamed Ukraine for the attack, saying that Kiev “continues to participate in terrorist activities in our country.”

Gen. Muscalik had submitted Russia in negotiations with Ukraine in Paris in 2015, which led to the unsuccessful Minsk agreements that intended to end the fighting in the Donbass region between Ukraine and the Separatist -backed forces, which began in 2014.

Russia began a full -scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
