Israel made an air strike in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday after ordering an evacuation of a building that is said to be used by an Iran -backed Iran group.

The attack was despite the cessation of the fire, which came into force five months ago, which put an end to the conflict between Israel and the military group.

Israel said it was aimed at a Hezbollah store by “precision -guided missiles”, which “poses a threat to the State of Israel and its civilians.”

The Lebanese Presidency condemned the strike and called on the US and France – who in November concluded the truce – to press Israel to end their attacks on the country.

The attack marks the first time in almost a month that Israel has hit the southern suburbs of Beirut – called Dakhie – where Hezbollah is based.

This will put additional pressure on the truce. Despite the deal, Israel has achieved goals that are said to be related to Hezbollah almost every day. The Israeli government said it would respond to all the threats of Hezbollah.

Western officials say that the belligerent group is largely in line with the truce, while accusing Israel of many violations.

Live footage, submerged by Reuters, showed a giant smoke helmet, twisting from the target building an hour after the Israeli army issued an evacuation order to the residents of the Hatat neighborhood.

Later, Lebanon’s civil defense said no casualties were recorded and rescue crews had extinguished the fire.

In a statement of X after the strike, Lebanese Presidency said President Joseph Aun has condemned the attack.

“The United States and France, as the guarantors of the military termination agreement, must take their responsibilities and force Israel to terminate their attacks immediately,” she writes.

“The continued undermining of Israel’s stability will sharpen the tension and expose the region of real threats to its security and stability.”

The Israeli government said it was heading for a Hezbollah store with “precisely guided missiles”.

“The storage of rockets on this infrastructure site is a gross violation of the understanding between Israel and Lebanon and is a threat to the State of Israel and its civilians,” the Israeli military said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s service said Israel “would not allow Hezbollah to intensify.”

“The Dakhier neighborhood in Beirut will not serve as a sure shelter for the Hezbollah terrorist organization,” she added.

The UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanin Hennis-Plaschaert, wrote to X that the strike “generates panic and fear of renewed violence among those who are desperate to return to normal.”

“We urge all parties to stop all the actions that could undermine the end of the understanding of hostilities,” she added.

Earlier this month Israeli air strike in the southern suburbs of Beirut killed four peopleIncluding Hezbollah employee.
