The Canadians will throw their newsletters on Monday in basic elections that are completely transformed by US President Donald Trump.
The conservatives seemed sure that they would win every landslide race early in the year, while Trump’s tariffs and Barbs to turn Canada into the “51st State” did not establish the country’s policy and put a fresh life into the Liberal Party of Mark Carney.
Recent polls suggest that the liberals are a little ahead, although the race has tightened over the past week, and conservative leader Pierre Polyver says his party can win.
The 36-day campaign ended with a grim note as party leaders responded to Saturday evening car that kills 11 people in VancouverS
Carney, the acting Prime Minister, canceled a stop in Hamilton on Sunday morning to turn to the nation after the attack, which saw a SUV RAM in a crowd gathered for a local Philippine festival.
In the meantime, Poiliev has added a suspension of the campaign in Missisauga, a suburb in Toronto, to talk to members of the Philippine Community there.
Later during the day, Carney held a distance from events in three provinces – Saskachewan, Alberta and British Colombia – in the last impetus to extract a vote in West Canada, where conservatives have more support.
Trump’s decision to impose a 25% tariffs on the northern neighbor of America and his repeated threats to annex the country, as the “51st country” ignited the deep anger as well as the feelings of Canadian nationalism. This made hockey fans hit the US national anthem before the matches, a sign of how suddenly a stable relationships were shaken in the United States Canada.
The US president came to dominate the campaign path, with the competition being seen by many as a referendum on how Canada should approach the man who is fresh in his second term in the White House.
During the suspension of the Carney campaign, at 60, he often talks about the need to oppose an existential threat from President Trump, who he said he was “trying to break us to have the United States.”
It is positioned as most suitable to lead the country in the current crisis, leaning on its experience as a former central banker for Canada during the Great Recession and the United Kingdom at the Bank of England during Brexit.
At the suspension of the Saskatun campaign on Sunday, Carney said Canada should strengthen its ties with other “reliable trading partners” such as the United Kingdom and the European Union. Earlier in the election, he said that the old relationship that Canada had enjoyed the United States for decades was “over.”

The province of the population is home to 122 seats in parliament since 343, which could change the result of the election. A party has to win 172 seats in order to have a majority government. Currently, the liberals have 152 seats, most of each party, but they will have to take a significant number of seats to control the Chamber of Municipalities.
Much of Pioevre’s messages have focused on what he called the “lost liberal decade” under the guidance of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who retired this year when his party was fighting in the ballot box.
The conservative leader often takes advantage of dissatisfaction with the erectioning costs of housing, inaccessibility and crime to focus as the change the Canadians needs.
“We have to vote for change so you can afford food and homes,” he told supporters of stopping the campaign in Peterborough, the city northeast of Toronto.
And with the elections formed as a race between conservatives and liberals, the smaller parties fought to gain grip.
The left -wing new Democratic Party (NDP), led by Jagmeet Singh, is facing the prospect of losing a number of places, as it extends behind the separatist block Québécois, which leads candidates only in the French -speaking province of Quebec.
Singh has canceled a number of events in the campaign on Sunday in the light of the deadly attack in Vancouver. The NDP leader, who runs for re -election in the Vancouver area, met with supporters of the Lapu Lapu Festival minutes before the attack. He seemed visibly emotional when he talked to the media afterwards.
During the election, Singh called on the Canadians to vote for his party candidates so that they could act as a check of power in Ottawa.
The block also fights fears of Trump’s threats and the future of Canada, nourishing anxiety throughout the country and pushing voters to the bigger federal parties.
Historically, Canada is guided only by liberal or conservative governments.
While President Trump is a central figure in Canada’s election, he refused to comment on his result.
But the Trump administration continued its rhetoric in the conquest of Canada. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told the NBC to meet the press on Sunday that “the president has repeatedly said that he believes Canada would be better as a country.”
The polls will open at 08:30 local time on Monday in Newfoundland and Labrador (12:00 GMT). The election will score in six time zones, with the last polls closing in British Colombia at 19:00 PST (03:00 GMT on Tuesday).
A record number of Canadians – more than 7 million – have already submitted their ballots in advance.
