Putin announces a three -day Russian termination of fire in Ukraine since May 8

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary end of fire in the war in Ukraine.

The Kremlin said the termination of the fire would continue from the morning of May 8 to May 11 – which coincides with the celebrations for victory to mark the end of World War II.

A statement said Putin declared the truce “based on humanitarian reasons.”

Ukraine has not yet answered.

The translation of the statement says: “Russia believes that the Ukrainian country should follow this example.

“In the event of violations of the termination of fire from the Ukrainian side, the armed forces of the Russian Federation will give an adequate and effective response.

“The Russian side again declares its readiness for peace negotiations without prerequisites aimed at eliminating the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and constructive interaction with international partners.”

The Kremlin has declared similar, a 30-hour truce over Easter, but while both sides reported immersion in the struggle, they blamed each other in hundreds of violations.
