Twenty -five people were arrested in early morning attacks through France in response to a wave of coordinated attacks on prisons and homes of prison officers in April.
The raids take place across the country on Monday, including in the capital Paris, Marseille and Bordeaux to the south and the city of Lyon.
French Justice Minister Gerald Darman suggested that the attacks were the work of gangs that revenge on a new government repression of drug trafficking.
The most serious incidents were held for five nights this month, with vehicles being lit and two prisons were directed by firing at what Darmanin described as “terrorist attacks”.
The prisons in Toulon, Ex-En Provence, Marseille, Valence and Nims in southern France, and in Willepinte and Nanterre, near Paris were among the targets.
In one of the most serious attacks, the artillerymen opened at the gate of the prison in Larle of Toulon with Kalashnikov on April 15.
Since April 13, the French government said there were at least 65 recorded attacks against prisons or prison officials, Le Figaro reported.
A group that says the protection of prisoners’ rights has taken responsibility for the attacks in the last two weeks in a series of positions on the Telegram social network, the French media reported.
President Emanuel Macron promised that the attackers would be “found, tested and punished”.
French prosecutors against the terrorists leading to the case have so far announced 25 arrests on Monday.
Some of them were held in prisons, with suspected leaders of operations that were thought to have directed the attacks aside for questioning, French television operator BFMTV said.
In response to the arrests, Darman said: We remain engaged in the law and the republic in our relentless struggle against drug trafficking. “
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Bruno Deptile praised the “great professionalism” of investigators who “have made possible results in a very short time.”
Both ministers have promised more stringent drugs related to drugs.
The upper and lower house of French Parliament is preparing to vote on a bill this week, which will set up a special prosecutor’s office, with new powers to investigators.
