Several people have been killed after shooting a hairdresser in Uppsala, Swedish media reported.

Police said they had received calls from public members who reported that they had heard strong bangs that sound like firing near Waxala Square in the city center.

The shooting happened on the eve of the Walpurgus Spring Festival, which brings large crowds down the streets.
