South Africa Police ServicePolice in South Africa are looking for answers after the bodies of three police officers – who have disappeared for six days – have been found in a river.
Boipelo Senoge, 20 years old, Cebekhulu Linda, 24 and 30-year-old Keamogetswe buyer, were last seen to leave a gas station near Johannesburg last Wednesday.
Their bodies were found by divers about 70 km (43 miles) in the Henops River, along with the remains of two other unnamed persons.
Initially, police said they were investigating a case of “possible abduction and abduction”, but on Tuesday they said they could not speculate whether the death was accidental or not.
The three police officers – all police officers – were Travellng in a white VW Polo when they disappeared, a police statement said.
Their vehicle tracking device and mobile phones have been off since.
Subsequently, the search team “spent sleepless nights, combining the length and width” of the provinces of Gautg, the free state and Limpopo, ultimately finding parts of a vehicle “considered” VW Polo, said national police commissioner Fanny Masemola.
A minibus of Renault Kangoo was then found nearby on the shores of the Henops River, in the municipality of Centurion.
The three officers traveled from a free country to Limpopo when they disappeared.
The divers searched this part of the river and restored five bodies between Monday and Tuesday.
Together with the three police officers, the divers found the remains of a police administration official who was not indicated. The clerk was driving the Renault van, said Gen. Masemola.
He added that the fifth body was decomposed and not yet identified.
South Africa Police ServicePolice are still looking for VW Polo, in which officers are traveling.
The search for the missing police officers was followed by the South African public and the prayers for the three police officers were distributed to social media.
After the bodies were found, devastated relatives gathered along the banks of the Henops River holding candles.
In Tuesday, the gene Masemola said: “At this stage, we do not want to speculate what led to the discovery of these bodies in this river, whether it is an incident or not, our investigation will reveal these aspects after we find their vehicle.”
This marks a significant change in the tone of Sunday when the commissioner said: “We cannot make criminals undermine the authority of the state by abducting three police officers. This is just a strict warning for those behind this incident, or you are transferring, or we will bring you on your own.”
