The target attacks against the Colombian security forces leave 27 dead in two weeks

The Colombian government says 15 police officers and 12 soldiers have been killed in the last two weeks in targeted attacks, which has accused the armed groups.

President Gustavo Petro has accused the crime gang of the Gulf clan and other armed groups aimed at members of the security forces in revenge for the recent murder of several of their leaders.

The government has proposed a reward for information leading to the arrest of those behind the attacks.

Petro was elected to promise to bring “total peace” to Colombia, but on Friday, his Minister of the Interior acknowledged that the strategy “is not going well” after the collapse of the conversations with the Persian Gulf clan and several other armed groups.

According to the list 10 of the police, they were killed on duty while five were killed outside the duty.

Seven of the soldiers on the list died in an ambush on Sunday in Guaviare Province. The army has accused this attack against the Farc Disdentus rebel group.

Farc, short for the revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, signed a peace deal with the government in 2016 and most of his fighters laid their hands.

But a significant number of Farc rebels who disagree with the deal, formed dissident groups that continue to fight for the security forces.

In an effort to bring peace to Colombia, the Petro Government has discussed with some of these groups of dissidents, as well as with rebels of the National Liberation Army (ELN) and members of the Gulf of Clane.

But Petro stopped negotiations with ELN in January, accusing him that there was “no will for peace.”

He also decided not to renew the fire with the group of rebel rebels of the dissident in April.

Conversations with the Gulf clan also stood up after police began an operation against the group leader known as “Chiquito Malo” (Spanish for “Bad Shorty”) in February.

Chiki has escaped unharmed, but days later, another senior leader known as Terror, and his bodyguards were killed by police.

The Colombian government says the Gulf clan has ordered its members to kill police and soldiers in revenge for these operations.
