The United States has signed a very expected natural resource deal with Ukraine, which the Ministry of Finance said it would help with its post -war efforts to recover.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly insisted on the agreement as a prerequisite for offering future security guarantees to Kiev, as Ukraine is fighting the invasion of Russia.

In a statement, the United States said the agreement “signals to Russia” that the Trump administration was “engaged in a peaceful process focused on a free, sovereign and prosperous” Ukraine.

The deal will see the creation of a joint investment fund of the Ukrainian-UU to search for minerals and will expose how the revenue will be divided.

According to a statement from the US Department of Finance on Wednesday afternoon, the newly created investment fund for the US and Ukraine reconstruction recognizes “significant financial and material support” that the United States provided to Ukraine after Russia invaded February 2022.

“President Trump has foreseen this partnership between the American people and the Ukrainian people to show the commitment of both countries for lasting peace and prosperity in Ukraine,” Finance Minister Scott Bessent said in the statement.

“And in order to be clear, no country or a person who has funded or supplied the Russian military machine will be allowed to take advantage of the reconstruction of Ukraine,” he added.

He said in a video statement that the deal would help to “unlock the growth assets of Ukraine.”

The Deputy Minister of Ukraine Julia Svilidko flew to Washington on Wednesday after a clear breakthrough in the negotiations.

In a publication of X, svyrydenko – standing outside the building of the Ministry of Finance in Washington – said the fund created by the agreement will “attract global investment in our country”.

The announcement comes after a delay, which US authorities have said is the result of the fact that Ukraine is trying to negotiate aspects of the deal.

“We are ready to sign this afternoon, if they are,” Beshen said earlier on Wednesday, adding that Ukraine “decided to make changes in the last minute” in the agreement.

On Wednesday afternoon, an American source, familiar with the conversations, criticized Ukraine for striving to reopen some conditions that were obviously finalized over the weekend.

Both American and Ukrainian teams worked on a night on Saturday on Saturday to agree with the documents, as well as on the early morning on Wednesday, the source told the BBC.

They added that the adhesive points included the management of the fund, the transparency mechanism and the steps to ensure that all the means would be completely traceable.

“Nothing has been removed,” Bestent said earlier when he asked for some changes to the deal. “This is the same agreement we agreed to over the weekend. There are no changes from our part.”

The technical documents were signed last week by representatives of both countries.

Ukraine is thought to have huge reserves of critical rare minerals such as graphite, titanium and lithium under its soil. They are highly sought after for their use in renewable energy, military applications and industrial infrastructure.

Hits the Trump administration to access the mineral wealth of another country comes against the backdrop of increasing trade war with China, where 90% of the world’s current reserves of rare lands are obtainedS

The project’s project seems to be providing US extensive access to the Ukrainian industries beyond minerals.

Although he did not specify the support of security that Washington would be ready to provide in return, he said the deal was “a tangible demonstration of the support of the United States of US Security of Ukraine.”

The agreement comes days after Trump and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski held a meeting face to face on the sidelines of Pope Francis’ funeral and as the conversations between Moscow and Washington continue to end the fire in Ukraine.

Recent negotiations for Trump-Zelenski seemed far more friendly than their Meeting in the White House in FebruaryAnd it led to softening the tone of the President of the United States to his Ukrainian counterpart in the coming days, as well as an increased level of criticism of Russia’s attacks.

Speaking on Wednesday, Trump said, “As you know, we are looking for rare land (minerals) all the time.

“They have a lot and we have made a deal, so we can start digging and do what we need to do. That’s good for them too.”

The initial agreement was due to be signed in February, but fell apart after the heated exchange between the two leaders when Trump accused Zelenski of Gambling with the Third World War.
