The Kenyan member of Parliament was shot dead on the streets of the capital Nairobi by a motorcycle artillery in a suspected murder.

Police said the attackers were lagging behind Charles Ongddo, that it was a vehicle before one of them got off the motorcycle and shoot it at close range.

“The nature of this crime seems to be purposeful and predetermined,” said police spokesman Mucciri Niga in a statement.

The opposition MP two months ago complained of threats to his life, local media reported.

After the shooting at the end of Wednesday, the driver and his bodyguard, both unharmed, managed to raise the injured MP in a hospital in Nairobi, where he was declared dead upon his arrival.

The attack happened on Ngong Road near a busy roundabout, often driven by police officers and well -insured with security cameras.

Shortly after the shooting, senior police and detectives visited the scene and investigations were underway, police said.

President William Ruto ordered the police to conduct an in -depth investigation into the attack, adding that “responsibility should be reported.”

The colleagues who visited the stage expressed shock and outrage at the murder and called for quick investigations and justice.

Parliament chairman Moses Watgula described the deputy as “fearless and excellent” legislator, calling his shooting “devastating”.

The Electoral District of Casipul in West Kenya as a member of the orange democratic movement, led by veteran politician Raila Oding, was presented.

In his statement, Oding condemned the murder, saying that the legislator was “merciless and in cold blood, shot by a killer.”

“We lost a gallant son on the soil!” Oding is added.

Oding lost to President Ruto in the 2022 election and rejected the results due to suspected irregularities.

Since then, the former Prime Minister has achieved a political deal with Ruto, who saw some members of the opposition joining the cabinet in what was called a “widely-based government”.
