The German outdoor office defended a solution to classify the alternative Für Deutschland (AFD) alternative party as a right -wing extremist after a sharp criticism of the White House.
US Vice President J.
In an unusual move, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly responded to Rubio of X, wrote: “From our history we have learned that right -wing extremism must be stopped.”
The intelligence agency, which made the classification, found “the prevailing understanding of people based on the ethnicity and origin” of AFD contradicts Germany’s “free democratic order”.
AFD was second in Federal elections in February, winning a record 152 seats in Parliament in 630 seats with 20.8% of the vote.
The agency, Bundesamt Für Verfassungsschutz (BFV), had already classified AFD as a right extremist in three eastern countries, where its popularity is highest. Now this designation has been expanded to the whole party.
AFD “aims to exclude certain population groups from equal participation in society,” IT said in a statementS The agency said specifically that the party does not consider citizens “mostly Muslim countries” as equal members of the German people.
Joint Party leaders Alice Weidel and Tino Crupala said the decision was “clearly politically motivated” and a “heavy blow to German democracy”.
Beatrix von Storch, the deputy parliamentary leader of the party, told the BBC Newshour program that the name is “the way in which an authoritarian state, dictatorship, will treat their parties.”
The new classification gives the authorities more power to monitor AFD using tactics such as telephone intercepts and undercover agents.
“This is not a democracy – it’s tyranny in cover,” writes Marco Rubio at X.
But the German outdoor office replied.
“This is a democracy,” she writes, directly in response to the X account.
The publication states that the decision was made after a “thorough and independent investigation” and can be appealed.
“From our history, we have learned that right -wing extremism must be stopped,” concludes the statement – a reference to the Nazi Party of Hitler and the Holocaust.
J.
“The West tore the Berlin Wall together. And it was converted – not from the advice or the Russians, but by the German establishment,” he wrote to X.
The Berlin Wall, built in 1961, has separated east and West Berlin for nearly 30 years during the Cold War.
The new designation is revived calls to ban AFB before voting next week in parliament or Bundestag to confirm conservative leader Friedrich Merz as Chancellor. It will lead a coalition with the Social Democrats in the Center (SPD).
Lars Klingbale, the SPD leader, who is expected to become Deputy Chancellor and Finance Minister, said, although not made a hasty decision, the government will consider banning AFD.
“They want a different country, they want to destroy our democracy. And we have to take it very seriously,” he told the Bild newspaper.
