The White House has confirmed that a military parade will be held to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army on June 14, which falls on the same day as President Donald Trump’s birthday.
“Daily Festival” will be held at the National Mall in Washington, said a spokesman for the army, adding that the event will include 6,600 soldiers, 150 vehicles and 50 aircraft.
Trump was first sailing a military parade during his first term, but he defamed the idea After the reports, this would cost about $ 90 million (£ 71 million).
Earlier on Friday, Trump announced plans to rename Veterans Day – known as the Day of Remembrance in the UK – as “Victory Day for World War I” to celebrate the US contribution to the conflict.
The army said the planning of the military parade was “actively underway” and explored “options to make the holiday even more demonstrations, with more demonstrations of abilities, additional displays of equipment and more community commitment.” Trump is 79 years old.
He first offered a military parade for the Vethera Day in 2018.
He said he wanted the United States to “walk” the French Bastila Day Parade, which he attended a visit to Paris in 2017.
Local politicians demanded a “ridiculous high” price, he said, and the idea was abandoned.
In the meantime, in addition to the renaming veterans day, Trump said he wanted to name the day of May 8 as “Victory Day for World War II”.
The announcement was not accompanied by an enforcement order, and it is unclear whether he intends to become a federal holiday – a power that rests at the US Congress.
The days celebrated the end of World War I in 1918 and the transfer of Germany respectively to the Allies in 1945.
On his late night, Trump said that “many of our allies and friends celebrate on May 8 as a Victory Day, but we did more than any other country, so far, creating a victorious result” in World War II.
“We won both wars. No one was close to us in terms of strength, courage or military splendor, but we never celebrate anything,” he added. “This is because we no longer have leaders who know how to do it! So we will start celebrating our victories again!”
Later on Friday, White House Secretary Caroline Levitus appeared to deny the reports that the name of the veterans day will change, writing at X: “We will always honor the Vethera Day and we have to mark the end of World War II as a day to win!”
The festivities of the day, which are being held in the UK, France, Canada and other parts of the world this year, celebrate 80 years, as World War II officially ended in Europe with the unconditional surrender of Germany, shortly after Berlin fell to Soviet forces.
Russia marks the occasion as the end of what it calls the “Great Patriotic War.” This is one of the most important holidays in the country and is marked by a massive parade.
About 27 million Soviet citizens died during the war, which began in 1939, when Germany, along with the advice, invaded Poland.
According to statistics, published online by the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, about 418,500 Americans were killed in both European and Pacific conflict theaters. Of the total, about 416,000 are military casualties.
The United States has not recognized a historical VE day. The country was still at war with Japan on the Pacific Front a few more months after the conflict ended in Europe.
Veterans Day, known as the Day of Remembrance in the UK, was previously known as the Resolley Day in the United States to mark the end of battles in Europe on November 11, 1918.
After World War II and the Korean War, it was renamed in honor of all US military veterans. Memory Day, which always falls on last Monday in May, distinguishes Americans killed in battle.
