Israeli air strike struck Sana International Airport in the capital of Yemen, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed.
Earlier during the day, IDF asked people to evacuate the airport, warning that “the failure to evacuate and stay away from the area is at risk.” This comes a day after the Israeli is coming to the whole in the neighboring city of Hudaida.
The attacks followed the rocket of the Yemen Huti group, which landed near Israel’s main airport on Sunday.
Israel has started several rounds of strikes against Iran -backed group in Yemen, including the targeting of a power plant and ports in January. Earlier, Israel held a strike at Sana Airport last December.
IDF on Monday said it was attacking Huti’s goals at Hudaida Port and Bajil Cement Factory east of Hudaida.
He claims that the port was used by the group as a “central source of supply” and for “transfer of Iranian weapons”, while the cement factory functions as a “significant economic resource” and was used by the tunnel and infrastructure group.
The port is the second largest in the Red Sea after an aden and is the entrance point of about 80% of food imports to Yemen.
A spokesman for the Huti Ministry, Aneis Al-Asbahi, said at least 21 people were injured in the attack.
Hutiis has co -accused the US and Israel for the attack, but a US defense official told AFP news agency that their forces are “not participating” in strikes in Yemen.
The rocket shot at Ben Gurion’s airport near Tel Aviv on Sunday morning landed to an access road near the main terminal. Six people were injured, Israeli emergency services said.
After the strike, Hutiis said they would impose Israel’s “complete air blockade” by heading to airports in response to Israel’s plans to expand their military operations in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised revenge against Huti for the airport attack, saying, “We have attacked in the past, we will attack in the future.”
