Google’s new ‘Simplify’ feature for iOS uses AI to make dense text easier to understand

Google’s iOS app is getting a new “simplification” feature that uses AI to make simple or technical texts easy to understand all webs without leaving the web page.

Simplification features a prompt refining method developed by Google Research and using the gemini to further digest complex texts without losing the original details. Google says its test has shown that simplified texts allow users to better understand and hold the original information.

By providing the built-in features like simplification, Google is likely to be hoping that people will be in the ecology of equipment and services to assist in complex issues instead of returning to popular third-party equipment like Openai ChatzPT.

You can use simplification by selecting any text on any web page you are visiting on the Google app and then tap the “simplification” icon. Then you will see a simple version of the text to help you digest information and continue reading.

Google’s Research Blog shares an example of what this feature might look like. For example, you can come across a passage that is written: “This condition is spreading the lung pararenchaima in complex pathologies, spreading inter -permanent fibrosis, changing the combination of lung resistant cells, increasing the production of immunomodulatory causes, and the production of pulmonary vasculcutor.”

The simplified text will then read: In this complex condition, the damage to the lung tissues from the emophicema, a disease that damages the air bag in the lungs and gives widespread stains of lung tissues called fibrosis. The resistant cells of the lungs are changed and the body produces more immunomodulatory causes, a substance that controls the resistance system. The blood vessels in the lungs also change a lot ”

Google says that the idea behind the feature is that people make it easier to realize the complex things they can get when trying to learn something new on the web.

Google said in a blog post, “We need models to properly paraphress complex ideas by introducing errors for our goals or excluding the original details.” “The text of the rewrite will certainly help the reader understand the challenging material without leaving the integrity of the original information.”

Simplification is rotating to iOS users this week.
