The first set of 49 white South Africans, provided the status of a refugee by President Donald Trump’s administration, is on the way to the United States.

On Sunday, they went on a flight from Johannesburg, which should land in Washington later on Monday.

This comes after a weekend of speculation about when the Africa will leave for America against the backdrop of criticism by the South African government, which defined the US resettlement scheme as “politically motivated”.

Relations between South Africa and the United States have been tense for months after an enforcement order in February, in which President Trump said Africani were victims of “racial discrimination”.

The United States criticizes the domestic South African policy, accusing the government of landing by white farmers without any compensation – something that the South African nation says it has not happened.

Bilateral tension has been tense for months, as President Trump has commissioned his administration to formulate plans to potentially dispose of African people to the United States.

In March, South Africa’s ambassador to the United States, Ebrahim Rasol, was expelled After accusing President Trump of using a “white victim as a dog whistle,” leading to the US accusing Mr. Rasul of Rasso Loop.

The current refugee group consists of 49 people who are expected to land in Washington later on Monday before they continue in Texas.

President Trump’s openness for the acceptance of Africa’s refugees is coming as the United States has joined the broader repression of migrants and asylum seekers from other countries.
