American singer Chris Brown has been charged with severe bodily harm by intention, says Sofia police.

The force says the prosecution refers to an alleged attack that was reported at a nightclub in Central London on February 19, 2023.

The 36-year-old was arrested at a hotel in Manchester in the early hours of Thursday.

He remains in custody and is about to appear before Manchester’s magistrate court on Friday.

“We have allowed the Sofia police to accuse Chris Brown of a census of serious bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the crimes against the Personality Act of 1861,” said Adele Kelly, Deputy Prosecutor of the CPS London Crown.

She added that “criminal proceedings against this defendant are active” and “he is entitled to a fair trial.”

Currently, the R&B singer is on tour and is planned to play several performances in the United Kingdom in June and July.
