A former leading Ukrainian employee has been shot dead in front of an American school in the Spanish capital Madrid, authorities have confirmed.

Andry Porten, 51 -year -old, had just slaughtered his children at the school in the Uuewello de Alarcon area in the city.

At least one unidentified striker shot several shots at the victim before running into a wooded area in a nearby public park, witnesses said.

Portov was a deputy and deputy manager in the administration of Viktor Yanukovych, The pro -Russian president was removed in 2014. After months of protests.

Previously, he was a member of the ruling party of Julia Timoshenko.

He left Ukraine after the revolution only to return in 2019 after Volodimir Zelenski was elected president.

He then left Ukraine again and in 2021 was sanctioned by the US Department of Finance, who said he was “widely known as a judicial retainer”, which has taken steps to control the judiciary and undermine reform efforts.

The European Union imposed sanctions against Portov earlier, but it challenged the transfer to court and won the case.

It was not clear who was behind the shooting, which took place around 09:15 local time (07:15 GMT) on Wednesday, according to the announcements, as the children were still entering school.

Police drones and helicopter searched the area of a weapon, who, according to witnesses, was a thin man in a blue tracksuit. Spanish reports suggest that the gunman may have had at least one accomplice to ride on a motorcycle.

Such a pistol attack took place in 2018, when Colombian drug trafficking was fatally shot dead outside the British Council school for several kilometers.

But the motive behind the Wednesday attack is still unknown. Emergency services at the scene can only confirm that Portov has suffered several wounds from bullets in the back and head.

Portov’s Black Mercedes car was fenced and the school wrote to the parents to confirm that all students inside were safe.

Although Ukraine’s intelligence services are linked to several murders in Russia and occupied areas of Ukraine, a fatal attack in Spain last February was linked to Russian hit.

The victim, a Russian helicopter pilot, was shot dead near Alicante months after a defect in Ukraine.

Authorities in Kiev said they had suggested that they defend Maxim Kuzminov in Ukraine, but it is believed that he moved to the southeast coast of Spain under a false identity.
