A second interruption of the power supply for two days struck the French region of Riviera after a fire in a substation in Nice overnight, which authorities said was caused by a malicious act.
At least 45,000 homes were affected after the blast exploded around 2:00 local time (01:00 BST) on Sunday, a day after Kahn suffered a massive eclipse that was accused of suspect sabotage.
Police in Nice say “Tire Paths” was also found and the door to the substation, west of the city, was “broken”, according to reports in local media.
A nice airport, the tram network and the neighboring cities of Saint-Lounge-Dou-Var and Kagnes-Sur-Mer were affected before the authorities were restored later in the morning.
Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi told X that he “categorically denies” the malicious actions that affect our country. ”
The deputy mayor of the city Gael Noffi said the substation’s fire was “probably with a criminal”.
The day has come after Cannes suffered a great eclipse during the International Film Festival. Officials said this may be caused by a substance attack.
About 160,000 homes in the city and surrounding areas have lost energy.
Several screenings were interrupted by power cutting in the morning before the festival organizers were able to switch to private generators.
There is no link between the two incidents at the moment.
Estrosi said the authorities would strengthen the security network around Nice’s electrical sites. An investigation of “Organized Arseen” has been opened.
Beautiful prosecutor Damian Martinelli was quoted by the AFP news agency, saying that investigations were being underway, more special “to clarify the damage and the way the law was done.”
