Crowds of far -right Israeli chanted insults and attacked Palestinians during an annual parade for the Jerusalem day on Monday.

During the event, chants of the Death of the Arabs were repeated and the nationalist slogans commemorating the Israeli forces adopting the Palestinian majority of Eastern Jerusalem during the Arab-Israeli War in 1967.

Violence erupted when the ultranationalist Jews embarked on the Palestinian regions of the narrow old town of Jerusalem.

Opposition leader Jair Lapid said the event became a Hate and Racism Festival, adding that it was a “shame and insult to Judaism”.

The Israeli police were located when the violence erupted in the arranged old city of occupied East Jerusalem shortly after noon.

Thousands of nationalist Israelis descended to the Damascus Gate, one of the main entrances. Right activists held banners that read “67 – Jerusalem in our hands; 2025 – gas in our hands.”

Arab traders in the Muslim neighborhood, who had not yet closed their shops, were harassed by young Israeli men, witnesses said.

The chants of “Let the village burn you” and “Your home will be ours” have been heard throughout March.

The aggressive marches were detained and removed by the old town by Israeli police.

National Security Minister Itariam Ben Guir from the Jewish rule of power called for the death penalty for “terrorists” in addressing the crowds.

Gvir also visited the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third most world place in Islam and known by the Jews as the temple mountain. The Jews worship it as the location of two biblical temples, and this is the world in Judaism.

The compound is applied by Jordanian Islamic Trust. Jews are allowed to visit, but not to pray there.

A spokesman for the Palestinian Presidency, based on the west coast, condemned Ben Guir’s march and visit to the al-Axa.

Israel’s continuing war in Gaza, “multiple invasions to the al-Aksa mosque and provocative actions such as lifting the Israeli flag in the occupied Jerusalem threaten the stability of the entire region,” said Nabil Rudanene.

At a Cabinet meeting on Monday morning, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu swore to preserve Jerusalem “united, whole and under Israeli sovereignty.”

Opposition left leader Jair Golan has identified images of violence in the Old Town as “shocking.”

“Here’s how hatred, racism and harassment look like,” he said in a statement about X.

“We will fight for Jerusalem for all of us, Jews, Christians and Muslims, secular and religious.

“Jerusalem belongs to all who love her. We will fight for her and restore her as a city for all of us.”

Lapid, another leader of the opposition, added: “There is nothing Jew in this violence. The government ministers who are silent before these events are complicit in this shame.”

Each year, thousands of Israelis go on a route through Jerusalem and the annex an old city ending on the west wall, the largest place where the Jews can pray in Jerusalem. On Sunday, a large Israeli flag was unfolded on the west wall of Plaza.

The parade notes the capture of Israel from Eastern Jerusalem in the 1967 war and the “unification” of a city, which it says that the Israeli government is their eternal capital.

The Palestinians also want Jerusalem as a future capital, and much of the international community considers Eastern Jerusalem as occupied by Israel Palestinian territory.

This year’s march of the flag again coincided with the war in Gaza and Israeli Military operations against Palestinian fighters on the West Bank.

Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to Hamas’s cross -border attack on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and 251 others were hostage. Fifty -seven are still being held, about 20 of which are assumed to be alive.

At least 53 939 people, including at least 16,500 children, have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the health ministry in the territory.
