Haribo recalls packs of sweets in the Netherlands after some have been found to contain traces of cannabis.
Several people, including numerous members of one family, have reported that they feel unwell after a 1 kg of Haribo Happy Cola F! Zz.
Body Spokesman for Food Safety in the Netherlands (NVWA) said some of them had reported “dizziness” after eating sweets. The agency said Dutch television operator SBS6 that “samples were taken and cannabis was found in them.”
Haribo spokesman told the BBC that he was working with police to “identify the facts surrounding pollution.”
NVWA said that three packs were found to be contaminated, but Haribo recalls all its stock as a precaution.
The bags in question have the best before the date of January 2026.
It is unclear how many people have become unwell.
NVWA said police are investigating how cannabis ended up in the Dutch media report.
The agency said there are bags in circulation that “can lead to health complaints, such as dizziness when consumed.”
“Do not eat sweets,” the statement is added.
It is unclear whether contaminated products are real Haribo bags or fake.
Haribo said the safety of his users is his highest priority, adding that he accepts the incident “very seriously”.
The Confectant Giant said the withdrawal existed only in the Netherlands, with other regions intact.
All other products are safe to eat, the company says.
