Vanuatu is looking to cancel his gold passport

Vanuatu’s authorities are looking to cancel Andrew Tate’s citizenship after it was revealed that he had acquired a gold passport at about the same time with his arrest in 2022 in Romania for rape and trafficking in human beings.

The self-written Misogynist Influencer has acquired citizenship in a quick scheme for those investing at least $ 130,000 (96,000 British pounds) in the small Pacific archipelago, according to an investigation into the organized crime and corruption project.

The scheme caused security concerns and made the European Union cancel the Vanuatu visas at the end of 2024.

A spokesman for Vanuatu’s government said the authorities “definitely take care” about Tate’s citizenship.

“Once we have the files, there will definitely be the processes to cancel its citizenship,” Kiri Manasa told ABC News.

“The government does not want to encourage people with dubious environments to obtain citizenship,” he added. “Those who are wanted by their countries or who are investigated by police authorities from abroad are not welcome to be part of Vanuatu’s citizens.”

Passports for sale or citizenship under investment schemes are a source of income for countries like Vanuatu. But they were also abused by suspects in organized crime, oligarchs and even intelligence agents, said Redi Belford, editor -in -chief of the Pacific at OCCRP.

“This is a lot of concern because it is one of those doors that allows people to get a new passport or even a new identity and be able to avoid law enforcement,” Belford told ABC News.

Vanuatu provided Tate citizenship in December 2022. The same month, Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in Romania and have been under a great extent under travel restrictions in the country.

Vanuatu does not have an official extradition contract with Romania.

It is unclear whether Tristan Tate has also acquired the citizenship of Vanuatu.

In recent years, Andrew Tate has built a huge online presence, including more than 10 million followers of X, sharing his lifestyle of fast cars, private planes and yachts.

He also gained global fame for his views on women, proudly declaring himself a “misogynist” and also using extreme language related to acts of violence against women.

The Tate brothers were born in the United States, but moved to Luton to the UK with their mother after their parents divorced.

They denied allegations of criminal misconduct.
