US President Donald Trump says he was “very surprised” and “disappointed” by the criticism of former Elon Musk ally Musk from the Budget Budget of his central part.
“Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will do it already,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday.
It was the most prime criticism of the President so far for Musk’s lobbying efforts against tax reduction proposals and reducing government spending – a plan that has sparked criticism from Musk and some Republicans.
In response, Musk doubled on X and accused the president of “such ungratefulness”, adding, “Without me, Trump would lose the election.”
Musk left his post at the Ministry of Efficiency of the Government last week after 129 days of work and Trump presented him with a gold key during a greeting press conference on May 30.
But in the days afterwards, he repeatedly criticized Trump’s budget bill, which is currently making his way through Congress, calling him a “disgusting abomination” and publishes “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did the wrong.”
The bill adopted the Chamber with the support of most Republicans, with a handful of Trump’s representatives and all Democrats opposed.
Speaking to reporters during a press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday, Trump said: “We do things in this bill that is incredible.
“I am very disappointed because Elon knew the internal work of this bill better than almost anyone sitting here,” he said. “Suddenly he had a problem.”
“He didn’t say bad about mine personally, but I’m sure it will be next.”
Putting a radical reduction in government spending, Musk initiates mass dismissals and wholesale of departments such as the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Dodge claims he has saved $ 180 billion, although this issue is controversial and is much less than Musk’s original goal to reduce costs by up to $ 2 trillion.
