Donald Trump said he would visit China after talking to his leader Jinping on the phone.
The US president said he had returned to the White House during the “very good talk” – although such a trip was not confirmed by both sides.
The call on Thursday is the first time the two leaders have been talking since Trump began a trade war with Beijing in February. Chinese state media reported that the call was at the request of the White House.
Trump wrote on social media that talking about an hour and a half was focused mainly on trade and “led to a very positive conclusion for both sides.”
“He invited me to China and I invited him here,” Trump told a call with the XI as he met German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Cabinet.
“We both accepted, so I will go there with the first lady at some point and he will come here, hopefully with the first lady of China.”
The Chinese reading of the conversation mentioned his invitation, but not the White House reciprocal.
According to Chinese State News Agency, XI, XI reports that Trump has said the United States should “withdraw the negative measures they have taken against China.”
It has also been said that the Chinese leader told Trump that China has always kept its promises and since consensus has been reached, both sides must follow it – a reference to a recent deal between the two nations hit in Geneva.
Both sides accused the other of violating the deal aimed at drastically reducing trade tariffs – a deal Trump advertised as “total reset”.
He came after Trump raised import tariffs from a number of countries, but retained the highest rates for China. Beijing responds with its own higher rates of US imports, causing an increase in Tit-Za-tat, which reached a maximum of 145%.
The preliminary truce hit in May has led to the US tariff for Chinese products up to 30%, while Beijing reduced the ledges on US imports to 10% and promised to raise the barriers of critical exports of minerals.
The agreement gave both parties a 90-day deadline to try to reach a commercial transaction.
But since then, the conversations seem to have stopped against the background of the allegations on both sides that the deal had been broken.
The US has accused China of failing to restart shipments of critical minerals and rare earth magnets vital to automotive and computer industries.
The Chinese Ministry of Trade denied claims and accused the United States of undermining the deal by introducing new limits to computer chips.
Trump has introduced new restrictions on the export of semiconductor design software and has announced that it will cancel the visas of Chinese students.
The US President said after the call that “there should no longer be issues respecting the complexity of the products of rarely earthly products.”
He told reporters in the White House: “Chinese students can come, no problem, no problem – it is an honor to have them honestly. But we want to check them.”
Chinese state media have announced that it has warned Washington that it has to deal with Taiwan with caution to avoid conflict just days after US Defense Minister Pete Heget said China is a “immediate” threat to the self -governing island.
Heget told the Shangri-La dialogue in Singaport that Beijing “is” reliably preparing to potentially use military force to change the balance of power. “
China sees Taiwan as a province that will eventually be united and has not ruled out the use of force to achieve this. US supports Taiwan military but officially does not recognize it because of the “one China” policyS
According to reading the call on Thursday, given to Chinese media, XI stressed that the United States should deal with the “Taiwanese question, wisely, to prevent a small number of separatists for independence of Taiwan from dragging China and the United States in a dangerous situation of confrontation and confrontation.”
The call between Trump and is a long -awaited one and comes after months of silence between the two leaders.
The White House has announced the opportunity to speak from the first week of Trump’s Presidency -and earlier this week, it finally went into its disappointment on social media.
Trump wrote: “I like my president from China, there is always and will always do it, but it is very difficult and extremely difficult to make a deal!”
Trump has made it clear that he liked to participate in the negotiations. But this is not the way China does business.
Beijing prefers to appoint a negotiating team led by a reliable employee. Any calls or meetings between heads of state are usually detailed and highly choreographed.
The Chinese will also not want to be seen leaning to Washington’s demands.
