Frames, shared online, show hundreds of Palestinians who climb over a large mound dirt – with some seen scaling of a metal fence – as they rush into a place for help in Gaza managed by the Humanitarian Foundation Gaza (GHF).
The Palestinians first see themselves to wait behind a fence, before the voice – outside the camera, with an American accent – the instructions. They are then seen entering the site and shouting as they flow to what is accepted as help.
The BBC checked the video geolocation to the SDS1 distribution site west of Rafa. He is said to have been filmed on Tuesday.
GHF is a controversial group supported by Israel and the United States, which aims to circumvent the UN as a major assistant to help to the Palestinians.
The UN and other assistance groups refuse to cooperate with the GHF system, stating that it is contrary to humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence.
BBC addressed GHF for comment.
The video was shared by Alon Lee-Greine, an Israeli anti-war activist who said he received it from an employee of the American Gaza company. It was unclear whether this was referring to GHF or any of the private security contractors who personalize their help sites.
In a post of X, Green described the scene as “apocalyptic.”
“But this is not a disaster movie, but the hell we made in Gaza,” he writes. “Here’s what starving people look like, rushing to food while risking their lives. That’s how the dehumanization of millions of people looks like.”
Israel does not allow international news organizations, including the BBC, in GAZA, making the difficult conduct of what is happening in the territory.
Almost every day since GHF began to distribute help on May 26, the Palestinians were killed, trying to access help near one or the other of the four centers he had opened so far.
The Hamas Health Ministry in Gaza says a total of 223 people were killed, and since then 1858 others have been injured while trying to reach areas designated to distribute aid.
The US and Israel say that the GHF system will prevent the help of being stolen by Hamas, which the group denies.
On Wednesday, it is reported that six more people were killed by an Israeli fire near a GHF place in Rafa, in southern Gaza. Israeli military said it was considering reports.
Following reports of assistance related to the aid on Tuesday, Philip Lazarini, head of the UN Refugee Agency for Palestinians, said that “another day of aid distribution, another day of death of death.”
“Day after day, casualties and dozens wounded are reported at distribution points, run by Israel and private security companies.
“This humiliating system continues to force thousands of hungry and desperate people to walk tens of kilometers, except for the most vulnerable and those who live too far.”
The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza in response to an attack led by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and 251 others were hostage.
Since then, at least 55 104 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the health ministry in the territory.
