Protests against President Donald Trump were held in cities and cities in the United States, organized by a group called “without kings”.

The demonstrations were held to counteract a rare military parade, hosting Trump in Washington, and came after protests in Los Angeles and elsewhere because of his immigration policy.

Legislators, Union leaders and activists have taken speeches in the cities, including New York, Philadelphia and Houston to crowds waving American flags and posters critical of Trump.

The military parade on Saturday night, also Trump’s birthday, was designated to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army. He warned that any protest of the parade would be met with “heavy force”.

The organizers said there were hundreds of protests with millions of participants.

In Philadelphia, people gathered in the love park. “I just have the feeling that we have to protect our democracy,” Karen Van Tryst, a 61-year-old nurse, told the Associated Press.

She said the reduction of Trump’s staff to public health agencies is one of the reasons why she turned out to be.

One of the bigger crowds was in Los Angeles, where the leaders and law enforcement agencies were on the alert during days of protests, sometimes violent, against a series of deportment raids.

Trump sent to the National Guard of the State a week ago against the wishes of governor Gavin News and the wrath of local officials.

On Saturday, Jose Azetracla, a member of the Civil Rights Group The Brown Berets, told the BBC in Los Angeles that it was immigration that led him to the street.

“It’s not rude, it’s evil. You don’t separate the families,” he said.

There were confrontations between protesters and soldiers of the National Guard near the federal building and tear gas were fired to scatter the crowds.

But one block or two distance, hundreds of protesters continued to march calmly.

Despite the biggest pouring of protests since Trump was re-elected, public opinion studies indicate that his immigration policies remain widely popular with the public.

A CBS/YouGov survey found that 54% of Americans approved his policy of deporting immigrants who are illegally in the US – 46% did not approve.

Multiple Americans (42%) said Trump’s program makes them more favorable, and 53% said he was prioritizing the deportation of dangerous criminals.

The name of the “no kings” of the protests refers to criticism that Trump has exceeded the boundaries of presidential power in his second term.

The president stood up to congratulate, as some of the thousands of uniformed soldiers participating in the parade passed by dozens of tanks and military vehicles, plus marching groups.

He spoke briefly to thank those present for their service.

“Our soldiers never give up. Never give up and never, never give up. They fight, fight, fight. And win, win, win.”

Some politicians and former military leaders have criticized the event as an expensive vanity project. The price label is between $ 25 and $ 45 million ($ 18.4 million to £ 33.2 million), according to the army.

But many of the attendees told the BBC that they were about celebrating the military, to which some of them had a deep connection.

When Melvin Graves returned from a battle in Vietnam, he did not receive a parade, he said, so it was as close as he would reach one.

G -n Graves acknowledged that politics plays a role in the event, but added: “This is the worship of these men and women who have served to thank them for their service.”

The latest US military parade was held by President George H. Bush in June 1991, marking a victory led by the United States in the Gulf War.

A crowd of 200,000 people attended the parade to cheer veterans, reaching 800,000 peaks, watching the fireworks show, the La Times reported at the time.

The numbers of the Saturday event were well below that, partly due to the wet conditions and the heavy rain forecast.

For the younger veterans, the parade was something they never saw during their service.

Brian Angel, a former Virginia infantryman who serves in the army between 2014 and 2017, including a stay at the border between South and North Korea, told the BBC that he wanted to see more than that.

“Each branch must receive some parade or recognition.”

Some experts have seen a restless comparison between US soldiers who are leaving through the capital, while the troops were located by the president to cope with the LA protests.

Security expert Barbara Star said to the BBC: “Due to this polarization at the moment, during this debate on immigration and the use of troops in uniforms carrying weapons, I think this exceeds this parade in a way that may not initially be provided by the army.”

Some of the demonstrations of “No Kings” in the state of Minnesota were canceled by the organizers after Flyers were found in the car of a man accused of fatal shooting by a state politician and her husband.

Governor Tim Walz urged people not to attend protests until the suspect was arrested, but that did not stop thousands of.
