After days of uncertainty and negotiations, the funeral arrangements for the former President of Zambia were finalized.
Edgar Lungu, who led Zambia from 2015 to 2021, died 11 days ago in South Africa, where he was treated for an undisclosed disease.
According to his family, he has left instructions that his political rival and current President Hakainde “should not come anywhere near his body.”
But a spokesman for the Lungu family has confirmed that an agreement has been reached with the government, which allows the somber to chair a state funeral next Sunday.
The order caused disturbance among some in Zambia, with people letting them wonder how they should grieve for their ex -leader.
After days of negotiations, the Lungu family and the government agreed that:
At a joint briefing at the South Africa press, the spokesman of the Lungu family Makeby Zulu, who sits with the secretary in the Cabinet of Zambia Patrick Kangva, said the family apologizes “for the inconvenience and the pain, that prolonged negotiations may cause, but we are doing everything we can to read the former desires of the personal desires of the personal desires of the personal desires of the personal desires of the personal desires.
Zulu also said that the family continues on the basis that the government “would not deviate from our agreement.”
Speaking of the government, G -n Kangwa appeals for unity and thanks the Zambians for their patience “at this difficult time.”
After six years as a major country, Lungu lost the election in 2021 to the Hijilem with a large margin.
After this defeat, he gave way to politics, but later returned to the brawl.
He again had ambitions to fight for the Presidency, but at the end of last year, the Constitutional Court banned him from running, deciding that he had already served the maximum two terms authorized by law.
Despite his disqualification from the presidential election, he remains extremely influential in Zambian politics and does not restrain himself in his criticism of his heir.
Last year, Lungu complained about police harassment and accused authorities of effectively putting him under house arrest. He also said he was prevented from leaving the country. The government denied both accusations.
