Romanian authorities have launched an investigation into the British-American influencing Tristan Tate for claiming that it has violated the election by posting political content on social media during the last presidential election in the country.

The probe, confirmed by police sources, is focused on a social media publication that Tate is said to have shared on the day of the election and includes direct or implicit political communications that are illegal in Romania.

The 36-year-old Tate is the younger brother of the controversial influence Andrew Tate, a 38-year-old, self-written misogynist. The couple has combined social media after over 13 million.

Both are investigated by Romanian authorities in a separate case in connection with a number of accusations they deny.

The latest investigation was opened by police at Ilfov County after receiving an official complaint.

Tate is said to have tried to influence voters through social media publication, which may be crimes for intervention in foreign elections and campaigns during limited periods.

He was called for interrogation on Tuesday. Andrew does not participate in this case, according to official sources.

BBC contacted TATE representatives for comment. He did not issue any public statement about the investigation.

But in a video post, apparently published in X on election day, Tate says it is not a campaign and as a “American man using an American platform in Dubai to talk about political issues”, he “is not the subject of Romania’s” no campaign “.

In recent years, the Tate brothers have built a huge online presence on social media. They attract frequent criticism of offensive statements about women.

Both were arrested in Romania in December 2022, with Andrew accused of rape and trafficking in human beings, and Tristan was suspected of human trafficking.

They both denied the charges and spent several months under house arrest. A year and a half later, in August 2024, they encountered new allegations in Romania, including sex with minors to minors, all of whom deny.

They also face 21 accusations in the UK, including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking.

During the arrest warrant received by police in Bedfordshire in March 2024, Tates said they “categorically reject all charges” and are “very innocent men.”

The Romanian court ruled that they could be extradited to the United Kingdom only after the individual proceedings were completed against them in Romania.

Prosecutors unexpectedly raised a two-year ban on travel earlier this year, after which the brothers traveled from Romania to United States from Private Jet in February 2025.

They returned to Romania in March 2025, telling reporters that “innocent men are not running away from anything.”
