The military in Colombia says 57 soldiers were abducted from civilians in the Southwestern Canyon of Michai.

It says 31 soldiers were seized on Saturday while the others were abducted on Sunday by a group of over 200 people.

The military says civilians are under pressure from the Farc Rebel Group dissidents, which agreed with a peaceful deal with the government in 2016.

The mountain region is a key area for the production of cocaine and remains one of the most haunted in the country’s continued conflict with the rebels.

In a video statement on social media, Brig Federico Alberto Mejja said four officers who were not ordered and 53 soldiers were seized over the weekend.

“It’s called abduction,” he said.

Local media reports suggest that the EMC Rebel Group – Farc’s largest shoots – may have ordered the abductions.

EMC has not commented on the question.

The Mikai Canyon is used to transport cocaine to the Pacific ports, and then drugs are delivered illegally to other countries.
