Iran launched rockets at a US military base in Qatar on Monday, saying it is revenge on US blows against its nuclear sites over the weekend.
Witnesses say they have heard strong bangs in the sky above the capital, Doha, while the videos show bright glimpses in the sky, while the air defense systems are trying to capture rockets.
Donald Trump described the attack as “very weak” and “expected” and suggested that peace in the region could continue.
On Tuesday, the US president announced a truce between Israel and Iran came into force.
Here’s what we know.
Iranian rockets were directed to the largest military base in the United States in the Middle East, Al-Adhaid, which says it is a response to US bombing three of its nuclear program facilities on Saturday night.
Al-Adhad is home to the US military headquarters for all air operations in the region. Some British military officials also serve there for rotation.
The attack was confirmed for the first time by the Iranian state media, and later by the military.
An IRGC statement, the most powerful branch of the Iranian military, said that “Iran will not leave any attack against its sovereignty unanswered” and added: “The foundations of the United States in the region are not strengths but vulnerable.”
Earlier, the United States warned Iran not to respond to its strikes on nuclear facilities and called on the leaders in Tehran to agree to a diplomatic end of hostilities in the region.
There were various reports of how many rockets were fired. Iran said six, the United States said 14, and Qatar was reported by Reuters that 19 – all of which were added were caught.
No one was reported killed or wounded.
In the hours before the attack, both the US and the United Kingdom advised their citizens in Qatar to “shelter on the spot.” About 8,000 US citizens live in Qatar, according to the State Department, as well as several thousand British citizens.
Shortly after, it became clear that Iran warned that he was preparing to shoot rockets. Three Iranian officials, quoted by The New York Times, said Tehran told Doha about his intentions as a way of minimizing victims.
In his first comments, President Donald Trump then thanked Iran for giving us an early notice, which allowed us not to be lost life and no one would be injured. “
He marks the “very weak” attack – no Americans were injured and very little damage was caused, he said. “They have taken everything out of their system,” he added, saying that there was a chance for “peace” now.
Nevertheless, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Qatar said the attack was “surprise” and “gross violation of its sovereignty” and added that Qatar “is one of the first countries to warn against the dangers of Israeli escalation in the region.”
Iran’s supreme leader Ali Hamenei, in the meantime, said that Iran did not harm anyone in the attack, but that his country would not “subjugate anyone’s violation.”
“We have not violated anyone and in any way will not accept to be disturbed by anyone. We will not obey the violation of anyone; this is the logic of the Iranian nation,” he said to X (as translated by the BBC Persian).
On Tuesday, Israel has publicly agreed to propose the proposal to end the Trump fire until Iran said it would only stop its attacks if Israel did the same.
Iranian state media have announced that the country has launched a “last round of rockets” to Israel before the ceasefire begins.
In the meantime, the Israeli government has issued a warning to Iran: “Israel will respond to any violation of the cessation of fire.”

On Monday, there were indications that American suspects Iran were preparing to launch rockets in Qatar.
Hours before the attack, Qatar said it temporarily closing its airspace, shortly after the United States and the United Kingdom told citizens in Qatar to “shelter”.
These warnings did not give a clear indication that the attack was inevitable: the United States said it issued the order “of an abundance of caution” while the United Kingdom stated that it was following the leadership of the Americans.
However, about an hour before the attack, the BBC learned of a “reliable threat” for the base.
Separately, some US media cited anonymous US officials that Iranian missile launches were positioned for a potential start to Qatar.
Flight tracking websites have shown that planes have already begun to deviate to other airports before the start. According to the Flightradar24, there were 100 flights tied to Doha shortly before missile launch were found.
Hamad International Airport is one of the most busy 10 -busy in international traffic, with about 140,000 passengers passing throughout the day.
Other countries in the region, including Bahrain and Kuwait, have also closed their airspace for a short period.
The United States has begun massive strikes against three nuclear facilities inside Iran on Saturday.
This came after days of uncertainty whether the US would join Israel’s hostilities against Iran, which began on June 13.
Israel launches daily rocket strikes against nuclear and military facilities within Iran, which the government tells him to be needed to prevent Iran from building an immediate nuclear weapon.
Consistent Israeli and American governments sought to prevent Iran from acquireing nuclear weapons. Iran has always maintained its extensive nuclear program for civil purposes.
The United States claimed that its strikes were severely damaged by Iran’s nuclear program, although the full degree of their impact remains unclear.
The attacks between Iran and Israel also continued on Sunday and Monday before the cessation of fire.
