Iran’s foreign minister acknowledged that “excessive and serious” damage was caused to the country’s nuclear sites in the latest attacks in the United States and Israel.
Abbas Aragchi told a state operator on Thursday night that the damage was evaluated by Iran’s nuclear power organization.
But only hours earlier, Iranian Ayatola’s Right leader Ali Hamenei said the strikes did not disturb the country’s nuclear program. Hamenei responded to the statement of US President Donald Trump that the bombs were “completely deleted” three nuclear sites.
Hamenei said US attacks failed to “achieve something significant.”
The supreme leader, hiding after the war with Israel, began on June 13, insisted that Trump had “exaggerated” the impact of bombs and declared victory over the US and Israel.
But Aragchi’s remarks make a different impression.
The foreign minister also said there were no plans to resume nuclear talks with the United States. Iran canceled a scheduled sixth round of negotiations when Israel began its attacks.
“I would like to clearly state that no agreement, agreement or conversation has been made to start new negotiations,” he said.
He added that the government was investigating what was in the “interest of the Iranian people”, saying that his approach to diplomacy would accept a “new form”.
He did not explain what he meant.
In an attempt to return Iran to the negotiation table, the Trump administration discussed the possibility of helping Iran gain access to $ 30 billion in building a nuclear civilian-energy production program, easeing sanctions and releasing billions of dollars into limited Iranian funds, CNN reported.
But development in Iran can impede such a move.
On Wednesday, Iran’s parliament approved a bill to stop cooperation with the global nuclear guard, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). If applied, it would mean that Iran is no longer committed to allowing nuclear inspectors in its sites.
Israel said his offensive against Iran was needed to thwart what they claim to be Iranian plans to develop nuclear weapons.
Iran always insisted that his nuclear program was intended only for civil purposes.
The United States joined the conflict directly last weekend, striking facilities in Fordo, Nathan and Isfahan, before Trump tried to quickly mediate to end the fire between Israel and Iran.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Heget said intelligence collected by the US and Israel said that strikes “had significantly damaged the nuclear program, returning it for years.”
Expired Pentagon’s preliminary evaluation It downplayed the importance of the damage and said that the US strikes only returned to Iran’s nuclear program for several months. The leak was rejected by the administration.
The Iranian Health Ministry said 610 people were killed in the 12 days of air strikes in Israel, while Israeli authorities said 28 were killed in Israel.
