A Ugandian military helicopter with eight people on board has crashed at the main international airport in the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu, an aviation official told the BBC.

The State Information Agency has announced that a fire broke out after the helicopter crashes at the International Air Adde, but it is quickly contained by emergency services. Video shots showed a plum of smoke rising from the airport.

“We heard the blast and saw smoke and flames over a helicopter. The smoke completely covers the helicopter,” Farah Abdul, one of the airport employees, told the news agency at the Airport.

The cause of the crash and the victim data are unclear.

Somali Aviation Aviation Head, Ahmed Maalim, told the BBC that the helicopter had descended to the airport military after flying from Balidogla air base in the area of ​​Dolna Shabel.

He said an investigation was being conducted to identify the cause of the crash.

The Ugandan troops are part of the African Union (AC) forces, helping the government fight al -Qaeda’s group, linked to Al Shabab, which leads a brutal uprising in Somalia.
