Apple COO Jeff Williams to step down later this month

Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams is resigning from his role later this month, AS Declaration By the agency on Tuesday. Sabih Khan, who is currently the senior vice president of the operation, has been appointed as the new COO.

Williams decided to resign for retirement and “Hoping to spend more time with friends and family with five grandchildren and counts,” he said in a press release.

Before retiring later this year, Williams will report to CEO Tim Cook and oversee Apple Watch along with the design team. After Williams’ retirement, Apple’s design team will transfer directly to Cook’s report.

After working on Apple for almost three decades, Williams played an important role in launching the iPod and iPhone programs, leading the development of Apple Watch and overseeing the design team among other contributions.
