Skeleton Crew Just Went Full Goonies in an Adventure-Filled Episode

Lucasfilm is giving its fans a gift two gifts This holiday season: Its new episode Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew On both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. On the one hand, this is great because many of us are at home and able to watch. On the other hand, it’s a little less awesome if you Write about the show for work And that day is not working. So, that’s why this week’s recap—and next week’s—will be a day late Our apologies.

But we like to think of those holidays as a trip to the planet Lanupa. A time and place to relax, rejuvenate, and, in the case Skeleton crewA pirate waist search is like something straight out Goonies. Let’s discuss episode five, “You Have Much to Learn About Pirates.”

At this point, we basically know what we’re going to do Skeleton crew. Each week the crew goes to a new planet to find a new clue that will help them get back to Atene. And this week was no exception. After the droid turns to the good side too easily for SM-33, he reveals Atin’s location is hidden in his old boss’s vault. His name was Captain Tuck Renaud, a name that immediately stirred Zod’s fancy. According to him, Reynaud was the most ruthless pirate, a man who killed his entire crew in search of the treasure of the Ait Atin. At Renaud’s hideout, located beneath Skull Ridge Mountain, the crew can find their way home.

SM-33 recalls Skull Ridge Mountain, located on the planet Lanupa, as a brutal place but now a luxury hotel and spa for adults. Which is a super quirky Star Wars When Sensei talks about exactly how long ago Renaud’s adventure took place. Because, don’t forget, the kids found Renaud’s ship—finally officially confirmed as Onyx Cinder. Although Lego told us a few months agoAll are buried underground in Atin with the dead. After some goofy but welcome hijinks at the hotel, Zod and crew find themselves searching for Renaud’s girdle in Lanupa’s underground spas. We see all methods of cooling Star Wars Aliens with a very fat, very hungry Hutt. Zod also runs into a bounty hunter named Pokkit (from Kelly Macdonald brave And Trainspotting) who knows Zod as “Dash Gentin”. This is at least his fourth alias which definitely raises more red flags about the character. Pokit calls in his favor and Zod’s former crew, led by Brutus, is sent to Lanupa. And so the race begins. Will the pirates find Zod and the crew or will they find the lair?

Here’s where Skeleton crew was filled Goonies. After befriending a giant squid-creature called Cthallops, they find themselves on their way through land and trapped in a booby-trap for treasure. You know, just like when the Goonies broke through the floor and had to follow a trail that stuck to a treasure. Both had skeletons in the ground, both had liquid pools to cross, both had anti-gravity spike chambers. No, wait, just Skeleton crew That was it. But even so, the similarities are numerous, to the real treasure, which is also in the booby-trap.

like GooniesThe team finds that treasure room and it’s full of cool stuff. Wim even gets to see a real lightsaber. Soon, they access a dataport and are able to find 33 Attain’s location and a recording of Renaud. He’s clippy, so we don’t really see who he is, but the brief appearance shows a cowboy hat that gives off Cad Ben vibes. Renaud’s message also reveals that, specifically, the treasure is in Athens: the last Old Republic mint. Meaning, you can make your own money. (Also note, Renaud’s performance in the credit list comes from Colin Follenweider, who is also Jude Law’s stunt double. Could Jude be related to Renaud? We’ll see.)

That revelation changed everything for Jod. Closer to the treasure than ever, he challenges Fern for the title of captain. He tries to fight bravely, but his forces are too strong. Then, those are set up to be unforgettable ones Star Wars Hero moment, Wim pulls out a lightsaber. He is going to fulfill his every dream and fantasy. But, when he ignites it, it flips over and it flies away. Zod tells 33 to capture the crew, but they quickly escape, as Zod grabs the lightsaber.

Our biggest takeaway from Skeleton crew Episode five is about how much fun can be had in this story. Yes, there are moments of pause—like Wim Homsick and his father, back at Atteen, desperately trying to do something. But more than that, we love watching this team travel across the galaxy, solve puzzles, get into trouble, and slowly unravel this mystery. Why is Atin so hidden, what are people really doing there and who is the mystery of the pirate force-wielding Jor Na Naud? And if that means we meet new aliens and bounty hunters on exciting new planets along the way? All good.
