The Pentagon has signed a multimillion-dollar transaction to begin the use of the Chatbot for the artificial intelligence of the Elon Musk, Grock, as part of the broader deployment of AI instruments for state use, the Ministry of Defense confirmed.
The Musk XAI company announced on Monday, the $ 200 million contract (£ 1,49 million) is part of its Grok for that program and is aligned with the Trump administration’s desire for more aggressive artificial intelligence.
It comes only days after Gock sparked a back reaction to throw away anti -Semitic publications, including praise for Adolf Hitler on X, the Musk -owned social media platform.
Musk said the bot was “too compatible” and “too impatient to please”. He said the question was being resolved.
Musk’s XAI says the new deal will give US government services to Grok 4, the most chat version and offer personalized tools to use national security.
The company also plans to provide technical support for classified environments.
The Pentagon announced and awarded similar contracts to Anthrop, Google and Openai – each with a $ 200 million ceiling.
“The acceptance of the AI transforms the department’s ability to support our fighters and maintain a strategic advantage over our opponents,” said the chief digital and employee of AD administration Doug Mati.
Musk’s expanding state partnerships come against the backdrop of worsening relations with President Donald Trump.
The head of Tesla and SpaceX had spent a quarter billion dollars on Trump’s re -election efforts in 2024 and was actively fighting for him.
Later, he was appointed to manage the Ministry of Government Efficiency (Doge) – a federal initiative to reduce costs loaded with reducing the size of the US government.
But in recent months, Musk has begun to openly criticize what Trump has called the “big beautiful bill”, scattered cost and tax legislation, which Tesla’s boss said it is too expensive for Americans.
Musk resigned from his post in Dog in May, although the department was not officially dissolved.
Since then, Trump suggested that Dodge could be deployed to harm Musk’s companies.
Trump also suggested that he could deport Musk, who is an American citizen and was born in South Africa. He also owns Canadian citizenship.
While he was at the head of Dodge, the White House was criticized for allowing Musk to have unlimited access to threes of government data on US citizens.
Despite the dropping out, Musk’s XAI continues to expand its government work. The recently announced contract may also create a way to continue this data collection.
Grock was introduced at the end of 2023 as a more unfiltered alternative to other AI chatbots such as Chatgpt. He has already been integrated into the Musk X social media platform known as Twitter.
